In all seriousness, there's a breadth of genres there (and a variety of audiences targeted), at least. My argument ain't purely about originality.

Terminator 2 kept the complainers at bay, though.

And there's a lack of genre variety this summer how exactly? Lol, give it up Tele and just admit nostalgia has gotten the best of you.

With 100-103m OW, PETS would need 3.2-3.3x to overtake BVS.

Insane, unreal, unpredictable. DORY and CW understandable. But DP, TJB, ZOOTP and now PETS possibly is amazing.

Are you kidding me?

The yearly top ten is

ANIMATED
CBM

CBM

REMAKE (OF ANIMATED)

ANIMATED

CBM

CBM

ANIMATED

ANIMATED

ANIAMTED (within a day or two)

It's by far the worst both in terms of lack of variety and in terms of originality.

So now we're grouping ALL animation in the same genre? Lol, ok I guess live action is all one genre too then. And clearly Deadpool, CW, and BVS aren't different movies at all. Nope, all CBMs, must be the same in tone and sub-genre I guess. I'm sure the Nolanites will be thrilled to learn Batman and Robin and TDK aren't actually any different at all really.

It's even worse when you extend it to the Top 20:

11. Original

12. Sequel

13. Sequel

14. Sequel

15. Sequel

16. Sequel

17. Original-ish (In my book 10CL is original)

18. Remake/Reboot

19. Sequel

20. Original

Hey, Dwayne Johnson is going to edge out Angry Birds for a spot on the top 10.

I guess Bambi and Heavy Metal are nearly identical since they're both animated. :depp:

To be fair, animation is more like a medium than a specific theme, but I wish there was more gripping original live action material as well.
