Either way we are gonna go off the reported budget and not rumours.

Until WB themselves come out and say the actual figures until then 175 budget and that includes reshoots.

I usually repeat myself when someone isn't paying attention. It's a fact (not a rumor) that Ike Barinholtz said the production budget for SS was $250 million. I understand why you guys dismiss what he said, I'm simply explaining why others do not.

Comics discussion of any sort shouldn't be in this thread. Can we nip that in the bud?

Please. Please. For the love of God. Please. Just make it stop. It's the same shit over and over and over again.

Considering how bad (IMO) Suicide Squad was I'm surprised it's not dropping 70% week after week. Next week it will hold well and the week after that it has the Labor Day boost. It's honestly in a very good position right now to cross 300m

6 would be a 68% jump for SS from 3.57 Thu.

GOTG jumped 64% on Fri, 49% on Sat and fell 25% on Sun.

I think it may not match GOTG's Sat and Sun but going conservative, even 40% jump on Sat and 27-28% fall on Sun leaves it at 20.5

I feel SS will be closer to 21 than 20.

Re: Kubo.  I know some people are saying that stop motion just doesn't appeal to kids, but there have been many successful stop motion kids shows, most recently Tumble Leaf, which has bright colours and great ratings and is going into its third season. It's far from the first, too.  The trouble is that while Laika's stuff is visually interesting... a lot of it is also really not very bright.  I remember watching the Box Trolls and there were times when it felt like I was watching a greyscale film. Stylistically it LOOKS like it should be bright and visually pleasing because it's cartoony and interesting, but their muted palettes don't help in that regard.

Laika's stories aren't... bad... but they tend to be weak and could use some shoring up.  They COULD be doing better. Frankly, since the owner is already rich and is mostly just doing it for his own personal amusement, I don't think they'll be changing their tactics or methodology soon.   But stop motion, in itself, is a perfectly viable medium and the lack of a really big stop motion success story has less to do with how it's made and more to do with WHAT is made.

CHICKEN RUN is a great movie. Stop motion has a beauty of it's own. Wonder why it never took off. CHICKEN RUN I think is still the biggest at the bo not even counting for inflation.
