Yes. More people will try to get tickets and watch the film because it's so much cheaper. Especially families. But it'll be interesting to see some of the drops today and the overreactions over them.

I am expecting 18.5M Wednesday (close to 17%), but I wouldnt be surprised if it has a better number. Holidays can soften the drop. Look at TFA last year, only 5% drop against cheap Tuesday.

Also, Carrie Fisher death can soften the drop today

It is a spinoff, but it is also a prequel. The film takes place before 4 of the existing films. You know, prequel.

Hmm... just noticed something. If those number come to pass and it drops like 60% on next tuesday, the dailies will be about dead even with Ep7. And that one continued to make about $185m after holidays were over (including monday). Now do the math...

And it's close to JW and Titanic  Don't think it will happen, although this will have better late legs than TFA (which weren't that great) IMO. Just more room to go up.

I can't speak for the United States but it was definitely cheap Tuesday all across Canada yesterday.

I think next week weekdays will be decent.

 

Over 5 million Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday.

 

Also the 4th weekend has low drops looking back 2012 with mi4 and sh2.

 

It could drop 40% at most it seems.

I think the holidays diminishes the effect of cheap Tuesday because so many people are off and going to the movies anyways.  Wednesday should still be a drop for most movies, but idk about 20%.

Expected Tuesday numbers with the exception of the Fences and LA La Land holds. I had assumed cheap Tuesday would help them as much as the rest.
