Hot take: both Alien and POTC will have another film.

Hot take: Alien Covenant would've made more money if it was Prometheus sequel.  Compare the Prometheus trailers to the Covenant trailers.  The first's trailers were amazing, Covenant's were generic.

Eagles couldn't fly into Mordor until Sauron's ring had been cast into Mount Doom. Simple as that.

They would have been smoked if they had tried to fly in sooner.

Not with 10,000 eagles could you do this, it is folly.

I wish I could get excited for Baby Driver like everyone else is, but it seems alot more like Scott Pilgrim Wright than Hot Fuzz Wright. And like Scott Pilgrim, this has a squirely wafer of a charisma vacuum in the lead, so I'll end up rooting for everyone else.

True, but the GA looks at RT as a score. 10% is considered 10/100 which is how it is disseminated in the press and articles instead of the actual review scores which could be say 40/100.

Well, generally, a film with a higher percentage vs. another film is also going to have a higher average rating (unless we're talking films with very close percentages), so it's just a matter of degree.

It's the difference between showing 100 people in a room a film and then asking the people who liked it to raise their hand, vs. asking them all to write down a score from 1 to 10.  Both useful, but in different ways.

Movie studios seem to be taking Rotten Tomatoes seriously. Can see big changes coming for that site soon @baumer

Would love to see the results of that study. If the study finds RT doesn't affect advance ticket sales, Time Warner and Comcast aren't going to change the site.

Wonder how they would change it though.

Alien has never been a huge franchise after Aliens as well. Even Alien 3 was not that big

Yeah, Prometheus was actually an over-performer.

So long as you don't expect Alien movies to be gigantic, it's a perfectly fine mid-level or even small-level franchise.

In about 25 years as a rebooted attempt at a new series when Hollywood is farming the aughts for film ideas...

The reboot cycle gets shorter and shorter.

It went from 25 years to every 4-8 years.

Id prefer the former because I feel like too often people are generous graders. The sample gets more noisy as opposed to deciding simply I liked it or didn't.

They can keep it at 230M. If they do another one, it will be sold as the final chapter anyway.

Bringing back Gore, And Keira and Orlando for proper roles would be a good idea. Also bringing back Rick Heinrichs and Hans Zimmer

But it might lengthen again if those new reboots fail...just like we might see less 5quels soon:)...

And you also have no reason to expect that a 7 for one person means the same thing as a 7 for another person.  You would have to have the same group rate multiple films for the averages to have much meaning.

Its hilarious they think they can dupe the public into going OW to a shit film. They will be sorely mistaken if they cut off critical access beforehand.

It'll be harder to reboot Pirates for nostalgia in 10+ years because so much of the franchise's peak appeal is built around Jack Sparrow, Jack Sparrow, Jack Sparrow. So either he would have to come back, with Depp older and more toxic, or it would lose the soul of the franchise. It's not like Jurassic World, where they could just add a new cast with the same premise and mine nostalgia, because no one saw the original for Sam Neill.

ASM 2 was 2014

Tom Holland showed up in Civil War in 2016.

Worst case scenario, if they do change it, Shawn will just make an alternative site to RT that's even better than the original. :sparta:
