Honey! Where is my supersuit? Incredibles 2 as Highest Grossing Movie of Summer 2018 Domestic

Recommended Posts

People under-estimate how beloved INCRED1 is.

True that if you look at admissions, it surely sold less tickets than TS2, MONST INC and NEMO (of course).

MONST INC did 255.9m in 2001.

INCRED1 did just 5.5m more in 2004.

(Similarly TS2 was "bigger" than both MONST INC and INCRED1).

If you look at legs it falls below CARS1, NEMO, MI and TS2 (CARS1 and NEMO have a different release period though).

11  10  Cars BV $244,082,982 3,988 $60,119,509 3,985 6/9/06
12 7 The Incredibles     BV     $261,441,092    3,933    $70,467,623     3,933     11/5/04
13 4 Finding Nemo BV $339,714,978 3,425 $70,251,710 3,374 5/30/03
14 8 Monsters, Inc. BV $255,873,250 3,649 $62,577,067 3,237 11/2/01
15 9 Toy Story 2 BV $245,852,179 3,257 $57,388,839 3,236 11/26/99

However, INCRED1 to me was the a most adult friendly mainstream/big-studio animation after BATB and TLK in the 90s.

It was better than Bond and Mission Impossible films as spy movie.

I would prefer to any DCEU/MCU movie as a CBM

And isn't this the CBM era and the animation era? ..... Animation+Spy+Comedy+CBM (Family as an ensemble of SH)....and some Pixar depth means I am IN.

INCRED2 420

HAN SOLO 415

Didn't saw that one coming at all, they felt like a natural fit for the material....

Sony would love to see them come back sooner than expected, loosing them and the Russos to Disney was a small hit on them.

Interesting club but Brad Bird might've lost his mojo, it's been too long between sequels and Star Wars is freaking Star Wars.

Dory was 13 years after Nemo

TS3 was 11 years after TS2

TI2 is 14 years after TI

JW was 14 years after JP3

If I wasn't so lazy I'd list delayed sequels that flopped. :qotd:

Most of them didn't have nostalgia nor the brand name of Pixar nor quality.

Glad to have you.

Thanks :)

Incred2 seems even more 4-quadrant than Han-Solo.

TS3's 110 ow / 415 dom is a good standard provided it's wom is close.

I think Incred2 can open bigger and with lesser legs beat TS3's dom : 110.3/3.76x/415 vs 120/3.55x/425.
