I'd say of all of Pixar's brain trust Pete Docter might have the strongest resume, Up Inside Out and Monsters Inc are all pretty great

I think the only one of the braintrust that doesn't have a whiff of a film is Bird but his good ones aren't as great as Stanton's or Doctor's. probably lean Stanton because he made fucking Finding Nemo

Cars 2 is a disaster...and it seems Cars 3 is no Cars (although I'll be waiting for Netflix to check:)...

Monsters U is nowhere near as good as Monsters Inc...

Finding Dory is just not as good as Finding Nemo...

Heck, even Toy Story's sequels were not AS good as the original, although #3 has my favorite moment of any Pixar movie ever, so it ties with #1 for my favorite Pixar movies ever (I forgive the middle act b/c of that amazing ending)...

 

Other than Good Dinosaur and the 2nd half of Wall-E, which I am growing to enjoy more now but I still don't like the jarring change in the movie tone (1st part is an A+ and I'm moving the 2nd part from C+ to B in my older age), there's no original that I don't think was very good to absolutely amazing...but the sequels (other than the Toy Story ones) barely touch very good down to outright bad for me...

TS 2/3 were great and MU was pretty good
