Blankments
A Note From Blankments Productions We are saddened to hear of the passing of Jessica Walter. A legend for her roles on Arrested Development, Archer, and other various shows and movies, we are proud to have had be part of the cameo cast of Reality Shift, one of our studio's first hits. Although we deeply regret not hiring her for more than that, we are still deeply honored of her role in that film, and will treasure the other roles she gave us always. We wish condolences to her loved ones, and will miss her presence in general.
SLAM!
@CayomMagazine Slam! Movie Reviews will forgo its proposed 4-point rating system in favor of reinstating its GameInformer inspired 10-point rating system. Scores of films from the previous film festival and scores of films whose studios sent in their screeners early [a.k.a. posting in submission thread] will be reappraised accordingly. "While we do want to view films in a slightly more critical eye, we've come to the conclusion that having a wide variety of scores to choose from is a very good thing that provides leniency and specificity to the films being reviewed," said a spokesperson. Yes, I'll gladly take an 8.25 with my coffee--and cream, too. Wait a minute, I'm writing an article. Ahem. Yes, there's no doubt that the longtime fans of Slam! Movie Reviews will be delighted to hear this news!
MCKillswitch123
@CayomMagazine Phoenix Fire Entertainment is proud to extend its partnership with Rockstar Games and has snatched the film rights to the 2006 action-adventure hit Bully. Similarly to the approach to Grand Theft Auto IV, plans are for a trilogy based on the game in order to correctly pack in its around-16 hour main story (side activities not included), which is centered on Jimmy Hopkins, a 15 year old-delinquent who is unwillingly enrolled in Bullworth Academy, the toughest school in the country, and goes on a personal mission to end bullying. The first film will be titled Bully, Chapter I: Welcome to Bullworth. The movie trilogy will take place in the same universe as the films based on Grand Theft Auto (which include the already announced S. Craig Zehler's Grand Theft Auto - predicted to come out on Y10 - and GTA IV trilogy). No word on cast or release date, but the directorial gig may land in the hands of Kyle Patrick Alvarez (Easier with Practice, The Stanford Prison Experiment, 13 Reasons Why - Phoenix Fire acknowledges the latter is a controversial reference, but the studio was impressed with Alvarez's directing on an edgy series about high schoolers, although Bully is not to be compared in any way to 13 Reasons Why in terms of tone or themes, adopting a far more lighthearted approach).
MCKillswitch123
@CayomMagazine Surprise! Mighty Fall is coming out in Y8. Phoenix Fire Entertainment was able to speed up production, similarly to what happened with Dreams, and the film is ready to be released. Here is a teaser trailer for Mighty Fall: Spoiler (beware of volume spike in the last few seconds) 0:00 - The Phoenix Fire Entertainment logo flashes off a static screen. 0:04 - A picture of four alien creatures - blue-colored humanoids with white stripes across their bodies (all played by Christoph Waltz, Emma Thompson, Naomi Scott and Chris Evans) - is given by one of those humanoids, Vida (Waltz), to two humans dressed in space bounty hunter outfits: Jane (Olivia Cooke) and Thiago (Finn Wolfhard). The alien goes on: "Our family was happy when Hakana was with us" (camera focuses on Hakana, Chris Evans' character) "but we know nothing of him for a long time now." As Allyarah (Scott) and Vida watch, Luanna (Thompson) intercepts: "Do your job and you will be rewarded. Find our son." Jane and Thiago look on. 0:17 - From director and producer Alex Hirsch 0:20 - During a montage of Jane and Thiago wandering in a cyberpunk-style planet filled with propaganda of one "Trucidator", and then in their spaceship looking into the distance, we hear dialogue: Jane: "She might've just gotten us killed." Thiago: "How hard can it be to find this guy?" Jane: "Someone who went missing, possibly because of the Trucidator? And in the animated dimension, which is infested with Trucidator patrols? If we’re lucky to survive this, we’re still gonna die anyway!" Thiago looks apprehensive as Jane heads off. 0:34 - Fade from black to Jane listening to an animated bunny-like alien, Trudar (voice of Dee Bradley Baker), asking her to let him and Grath - we get a shot of Grath, an animated duck-like (voiced by Billy West) - come with her, since she's gonna need all the help she can get. We also get shots of those four characters, as well as Allyarah, speeding off in the spaceship. 0:45 - The journey begins 0:48 - We get glimpses of the following sequences: - A spaceship with Trudar, Grath and a human (Diogo Morgado) barrel rolling out of the fire by another spaceship; - A gigantic spaceship preparing a huge laser beam out of its mouth; - A muscular alien, like Allyarah and her family (played by Kristofer Hijvu), speeding into the space distance; - On the outskirts of an animated ice planet, Jane looking determined. 0:57 - Fade from black, as Jane and the others' spaceship approaches a murky animated planet, the heroes with apprehensive looks on their faces. Trudar narrates: "We know Tersuto. It is a slave planet now. The Trucidator's army calls it... Mighty Fall." 1:09 - Olivia Cooke Finn Wolfhard Naomi Scott Dee Bradley Baker Billy West Bob Bergen Kristofer Hijvu with Chris Evans with Christoph Waltz and Emma Thompson 1:17 - MIGHTY FALL In theaters on June 28th IN IMAX 3D
MCKillswitch123
@CayomMagazine Phoenix Fire Entertainment hopes that you're enjoying our slate for Y8, in what was a big second year for the studio, from smaller titles like Returning from Hell and Floodbath, to massive blockbusters such as Far Cry, The Lost Empire and Mighty Fall. But it is important to discuss the future. For us, the process to move Mighty Fall one year forward - similarly to what we had already done with Dreams - did open up a question regarding our Y9 slate, as removing Alex Hirsch's sci-fi blockbuster from its original Memorial Day Y9 slot meant that we no longer had something booked for the spot. We do now. We are deciding to move S. Craig Zehler's Grand Theft Auto one year forward. GTA is an original story loosely based on lore from the first two main entries of the game series (Grand Theft Auto and Grand Theft Auto 2) and it will be the first movie in Phoenix Fire's Rockstar America franchise, which will also include the Bully and Liberty City (Grand Theft Auto IV) trilogies. It will tell the story of Kieran Gallagher (Jacob Batalon), a young sociopath who decides to go behind his mob boss, Bubby Seragliano (Paul Giamatti)'s back and take some of the heroin he was supposed to smuggle for himself. After snorting it, he goes on a 24 hour deranged craze across the cities of Anywhere City and Ludendorff while dodging the police. Jaylen Barron will play his girlfriend, while Vince Vaughn, Jennifer Carpenter and Don Johnson round out the supporting cast. GTA is bold as a tentpole release for our studio, as it is a heavy R-rated crime drama with a main character that will commit extremely intolerable actions. However, we believe that the movie will represent a case study in how violence affects our youth globally, and that it can be an eye-opening, while also entertaining watch based on one of the most popular video games in history. Grand Theft Auto will open in theaters on Summer Y9.
YM!
@cayommagazine Shaka King (Judas and The Black Messiah) has signed on to co-write and direct True Colors with Jordan Peele stepping down as director to work on another unannounced Infinite Studios project, as the studio after solid reviews on Heartman, want to make a deal with the Academy Award winner auteur to create original projects. True Colors is still Infinite’s passion project hoping it’ll be the film to get the studio some recognition. True Colors has also got a new release date; February 22nd, Y9.
YM!
@cayommagazine In addition to Shaka King signing on for True Colors, Endless has made a series of announcements based on their Y9 and beyond films. - My Hero Academia: One for All has been indefinitely pushed back to further work on story as Peter Ramsey (Spider-Man: Into The Spider Verse, Frankenstein Jr.) wanted the opportunity to fully rework the story and do something new. - Endless Animation has also slated two dates for their animation slate for Y9. The first film, the sci-fi racing movie, Cosmic 3000, will be helmed by directors Peter Ramsey (Spider-Man: Into The Spider Verse, Frankenstein Jr.) and Matthew A Cherry (Hair Love, the upcoming Meeka) which is now set to be a high stakes space race across the most deadly planets in the galaxy as well as a story on gentrification, class and well race, slated for March 22nd, Y9. The second film is unknown but the studio is debating between two films in active development: a Sly Cooper adaptation helmed by Ian Jones-Quartery (OK KO: Let’s Be Heroes, Steven Universe) said to be inspired by the subversion and respect Shrek did with the fairytale genre and Kung Fu Panda did with wuxia/Kung Fu films, with the spy and heist genre as the main selling point is about morality or a original feature by Julia Potts (Summer Camp Island, de Blob) said to be inspired by some of Pixar’s work as well as the films’ Studio Ghibli did helmed by Miyazaki about the secret world of imaginary friends. One of those projects will land July 18th, Y9.

SLAM!
@CayomMagazine New Journey Pictures Score Descriptions New Journey Pictures is ready to release original score descriptions for the films that they released in Y8. The studio has decided not to leave out descriptions for any of the films that it designed a composer to out of fairness and respect for all of the original scores. These descriptions contain embedded YouTube videos, so they might cause the system to slow down if you're using mobile to read these. Alexandre Desplat, The World That We Knew Spoiler Desplat is a composer who doesn't need an introduction, having scored excellent films such as The Imitation Game and The Shape of Water. For The World That We Knew, Desplat contributes a score that nods to the cultures, styles, and expectations of music these European settings in 1940s, while also engrossing the viewer in otherworldly sounds that nod to an assured certainty of life after death. Many of the compositions remain wary of the danger that the Nazi regime imposes upon the characters evading capture. Wind and string instruments have a prominent focus, with the occasional use of the harp and the accordion. Dustin O'Halloran and Volker Bertelmann, Everything I Never Told You Spoiler Dustin O'Halloran and Volker Bertelmann commonly collaborate with one another on movie scores that predominantly feature piano-driven ballads. Piano driven ballads that focus of the preciousness of life, hope for the future, and the sadness of losing a loved one are the type of tunes found in this film's score. Brian McOmber, The Gnashing Spoiler You know, the beginning of first five minutes of this film are based on a scene in a Japanese short film called Ako. That's the catalyst for me getting the idea to have traditional Japanese music as the score for the film, and I decided to have common Trey Edward Shultz composer Brian McOmber compose music of that variety. It's a moody score that brings out fear, dread, and mystery. Here's the two songs that I had links to in the film itself: Emile Mosseri, New Tricks Spoiler Emile Mosseri has been steadily on the rise since his breakout film scores from Minari and The Last Black Man in San Francisco, and I thought that New Tricks would be a great opportunity to utilize him. There's frequent use of uncommon instrumentation (such as the use of a singing saw) as well as callbacks to and utilization of motifs, and it's a score that isn't afraid to be playful as well as moving. Randy Newman, Christmas Shopping Spoiler Randy Newman certainly doesn't need an introduction. This score for Christmas Shopping is exactly what you'd expect from a musical score by Randy Newman--it has the classic warmth and charm found in pieces from films like Marriage Story, except with some Christmas flair and instrumentation. Antonio Pinto, Christie Monteiro Spoiler Antonio Pinto was picked for this project after I discovered his score for Senna, which is a documentary about a formula one racer. This score has beats with a faster tempo than most scores, and there's Brazilian/beachy flair to much of the music. Antonio Pinto utilizes a lot of opportunities to harken back to the music of the Tekken video game franchise, especially during fight scenes. Hans Zimmer, Fullmetal Alchemist: A Tale of Two Brothers Spoiler Hans Zimmer doesn't need an introduction either. This is a common blockbuster score, but with epic notations that nod to the European-inspired setting and to the philosophical and theological themes of the film when applicable.

Ezen Baklattan
Get ready for something different. Spoiler In Y9, a new studio will arrive. Introducing AFFINITY. No franchises. No tentpoles. No plans to take any spot on the advanced schedule. May god have mercy on our souls. Featuring executives from the now defunct Hourglass Pictures, but led in particular by CEO and Founder Elizabeth Caruso, AFFINITY will take audiences on journeys to places both bizarre and familiar, heartwarming and soul shattering, and no matter what, full of exciting surprises. All of their films will have budgets around fifty million or less, and they are not planning on creating new franchises or tentpoles. Instead, they will create a mixture of original stories and adaptations of offbeat and exciting works with a flair all their own. Caruso, then a manager of production of Hourglass Pictures in Y6, remarked that the company began to lose faith in its own output, and there was a culture lacking the same spark (no pun intended) it did when the game began. As we shifted our resources to focus more on independent, smaller scale works, the culture began to shift towards a greater excitement and thrill. Many in our company are excited about our new direction, and in scaling down operations, many of our talented staffers were fully supported in their transition to other studios in Hollywood. "We want to make sure nobody gets left behind, but also be true to ourselves," Caruso remarked, "and in turn, I think we finally have what we need to keep going strong." Despite many questions, Affinity has no plans of resurrecting popular franchises like Bounty Hamster, The Epsilon Syndicate, and certainly not Spark. However, there may be sequels and such relating to more smaller scale fare, including the cult favorite Blood and Fur. However, that will have to wait, seven films have been announced for Y9 as an initial return. More could potentially arrive, but our current slate will at least have the following: AQUARIUS (Drama/Comedy/Thriller) (dir. Josh and Benny Safdie) David Henrie's out to wreak havoc and make a name for himself in Wisconsin Hills. CASSIA OF THE NIGHT (Drama/Romance/Fantasy) (dir. Celine Sciamma) What if Taxi Driver but with Lady Gaga and Kristen Stewart as sapphic vampires in 80s New York? DANSE SAUVAGE (Musical/Biopic) (dir. Gina Prince-Bythewood) Meet Josephine Baker. Bisexual Performer. French Resistance. Civil Rights Activist. FRANCIS (Animation/Sci-Fi/Comedy) (dir. Owen Dennis) They were invited to an experiment to save their marriage. Now, they'll have to save the world too. INNER VOICE (Horror) (dir. Jen and Sylvia Soska) She wanted to belong, and would do anything to gain acceptance. Every wish has its price. THE PRODIGAL FAMILY (Comedy/Sci-Fi/Thriller) (dir. Claire Scanlon) In WWII, they were used as experiments. Twenty years later, they're America's most beloved family. THIS WASN'T SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN (Drama/Fantasy/Comedy) (dir. Taika Waititi) Five strangers. Six feet under. One opportunity none of them could have imagined. A few of the above projects were intended to run within the original slate of Hourglass Pictures but hope to restart production. When asked about current rights, the studio is not intending to claim any for the time being. It will keep going at its own pace, no plans of creating the next big blockbuster but instead marching to the beat of whatever creative impulses come along. We're thrilled to resume production in a new house and a new attitude. It's good to be home. 5 1
YM!
On 5/10/2021 at 9:29 PM, YourMother the Edgelord said: @cayommagazine Infinite Studios to unveil a huge announcement involving auteur Jordan Peele (Get Out, Us and Heartman) next Sunday, May 23rd. @cayommagazine Unrelated to the announcement before as it will come later, Academy Award winner Jordan Peele’s (Get Out, Us and Heartman) studio Monkeypaw Productions has inked a multi-picture deal to produce films with Endless Entertainment and its various subsidiaries. Xavier B. Irving despite Heartman having came out last second, is pleased nonetheless with the reviews it’s getting as Irving notes that in Hollywood there’s a lack of black stories and culture and is delighted to work with Monkeypaw once more. Films not apart of the deal include Endless Animation Alternative’s stop motion R-rated psychological horror Sleepy Hollow and Infinite Studios’ highly buzzed social thriller True Colors, both of which slated to come out Y9. Not much is said about the deal but the films are said to cover a variety of genres such as horror, thriller, comedy, sci-fi, drama and various more as the films are primarily low to mid budget but not blockbuster level tentpoles. Projects in development so far include another Jordan Peele produced horror film that the studios describe in the same vein of Heartman with Carribean culture being in the backdrop, an untitled comedy written by The Lucas Brothers, and Seconds, a David Oweloyo family feature centered around time travel, set to pay homage to some of Amblin Entertainment’s films just like his previous IRL debut The Water Man.
YM! However, as the studio learned from past years, only 6-7 films will be announced as those are the films intended for release and will be first in development. In other news, Ashton Corbin (Pixar story artist, story of Loop) has been signed on to direct an untitled Endless Animation film.
