How Dunkirk's current audience score of 84% compares to other Nolan films:

Interstellar: 88% on the first Tuesday (currently sits at 85%)

TDKR: 94% on the first Saturday (currently sits at 90%; The fanboys probably contributed A LOT to this  )

Inception: 93% on the second Saturday (currently sits at 91%)

TDK: 89% on opening day (currently sits at 94%)

Prestige: 90% two weeks after release (currently sits at 92%)

BB: 94% 3 days after release (currently sits at 94%)

How on earth do you remember all those percentages from so far back?

I think of my grades on the 10 point scale (vs rotten tomatoes scores)...

A+ 10 (I've given out less than 10 in my lifetime - this is the perfect score:)

A 9.5

A- 8.5

B+ 7.5

B 6.5

B- 5.5 (must hit this at least this score to get a recommend, and sometimes it's still a pass - like the 60% thing:)

C+ 4.5

C 3.5

C- 2.5

D+ 1.5

D .5

F 0 (I've given out about 20-30 of these in my lifetime - this is your movie is a total fail:)...

TDK is your favorite Nolan movie. you're textbook casual

Hey, I'm gonna totally make "textbook casual" my next user slogan b/c I'll also back that The Dark Knight is his best movie...by far...

Other Nolan movies sometimes fall apart in the endings...and they irritate me about 10 minutes after I see them.  TDK had none of the endings problems...

This is outrageous. Hat Guy alone trumps TDK.

SWAT Guy, No More Dead Cops, Nodding Dude, and Chris Christie "HE SHOULD TURN HIMSELF IN" are too overwhelming.

I haven't even gotten to the people on the ferry.

wouldn't that movie be better if it was about the hankerchief trick. and hugh jackman was going obsessive and crazy over how much hankerchief christian bale could fit in his sleeve.

Let me do one of my forecasts for Dunkirk:

Remainder of this week: 23.3M (83.8M Total)

Aug 4: 18M (8M weekdays, 153.3M Total)

Aug 11: 10.8M (4.4M weekdays, 168.5M Total)

Aug 18: 6.5M (2.5M weekdays, 177.5M Total)

Aug 25: 4.5M (1.5M weekdays, 183.5M Total)

Sep 1: 3.4M (900k weekdays, 187.6M Total)

Sep 8: 1.9M (500k weekdays, 190M Total)

Sep 15: 1M (300k weekdays, 191.3M Total)

Final Total: 194M (3.84x)

I wouldn't be shocked if it drops close to 50% next weekend tbh

If you made two $1bn grossers and invigorated a major IP, the studio will grant you many blank cheques. His next film could be a financial disappointment and they'd still back another film. Clint Eastwood for example had many flops in the last few years before striking it big with American Sniper and Sully.

Eastwood track record in the 2000's before those 2 blockbuster was still excellent (specially considering time between spending of the money and release, trouble/work from the studio pov), only 2 flops on 12 movies but also 3 breakout extremely profitable success with Gran Torino/Million Dollar baby/Mystic River, a 83.3% non-flop rate.
