AA is looking a lot less spread out than yesterday; even though it's sold about 10 more tickets today, they're mostly in the earlier shows. Scrapping Wind River's night show for AA looks like a mistake.

mother! has sold about half of what it sold yesterday morning at a similar time.....

If there are 3 wide releases on the 29th, I expect mother! to leave my theater then. It'll be in like 500 theaters by the 6th.

Which is where it should stay until awards season. Let it play in the art theaters.

They're not gonna keep a film that's gonna be making less than $1M in three weeks (if not quicker than that) in theaters for long. They'll put it out on DVD right before Christmas in all likelihood. Also, its Oscar chances are completely dead at this point.

I'm willing to bet Wonder Woman will get a best picture nom before mother! 

 

mother! can get buzz from Jlaw getting a best actress nom but the film itself isn't getting anything. 

 

So I don't see smaller theaters keeping mother! through awards season simply because it's not going to be a contender.

I don't think so, only a tweet...which they are probably going to have to delete but that's the least of their problems with this.

After seeing IT, I'm happy that it's such a big success. Movie deserves to be seen with a packed house.

IT is making in its second weekend what I would have originally been perfectly fine with in its first weekend. Such a great run.

I don't think they are dead at all. It would be a travesty if Jlaw was not at least nominated. Don't think it changes because it did not play like a rom-com. Most Oscar films are not box office hits. But I think thir peers will appreciate this. A crazy, intense, subversive piece of art.
