Never really got the phenomenon talk, I mean Marvels already done this twice already with TA and AoU... where was the talk of phenomenons when AoU making bank.

Well, to be fair, no other Marvel Studios solo venture has broken out like Black Panther and it did just post 2nd largest four day DOM take and largest Monday take ever within the last week. It's still very much pacing for $550M+ DOM. I mean, that's pretty fucking huge, no? I wouldn't put AoU anywhere near this one. This not only feels bigger DOM but actually has performed much more impressively DOM as well.

But, most of all, I really just wanted to post a pic from Travolta in Phenomenon. So, you know, that one just fit.

I haven't seen that Travolta film, my bad.

The phenomenon stuff.. I feel like we're ruining the box office lingo economy. I mean what words to we have left for ANH, Titanic, Avatar and TFA? I guess it's really down to preference but I prefer to use it for stuff that's never been done before. I guess you can in at the Feb angle, but even still... phenomenon?

basically we gotta save the best words for when it's right, if everything's amazing, nothing is.

This is amazing though. It's blown way past everyone's expectations. It's going to be one of the highest grossing films of all-time. It's a really well regarded movie by almost all accounts. Thats ignoring all the social impacts of the movie; it's a big deal for a lot of people. If this can't be called a phenomenon, I don't know what can.

I think it is a phenomenal domestic market start:

That expend the notion of when giant run can happen (with February angle) and the biggest ever star for a non team up SH movie (Avengers adjusting at 291.51m could even say biggest first week for a SH movie ever) ?

Will see the legs, but as of now phenomenal out of block domestic start seem to fit.

BP won't even get the 2nd biggest 10-day in history.

Probably will end up with 3rd biggest.

I don't know why Disney bothered making the movie TBH.

Scene right now in Kevin Feige's office:

As you all know, the prize for the highest second weekend ever is a Cadillac Eldorado. Anybody wanna see the prize for the second highest second weekend? Second prize's a set of steak knives. Prize for third highest second weekend ever is you're fired!

A phenomenon outperforms expectations by capturing the zeitgeist. They also do not necessarily require massive numbers to qualify. Wonder Woman is a better example of a phenomenon than Age of Ultron despite grossing less at the box office.
