Damn, kinda hopes Rampage would do at least a little better.

This Canadian movie called Indian Horse is opening at my theatre tonight, and quite a few theatres in Canada actually from what I'm seeing. Anyone heard of/going to see it?

Deadline's 9.5M for Blockers is pretty optimistic. If it increases 60% tomorrow and drops 40% on Sunday, it'll only make 8.9M, which is a 57% drop :jeb!: At this rate, it's probably going to miss a 2.5x:

Apr 13: 8.9M (3M weekdays, 38.5M Total)

Apr 20: 4M (1.2M weekdays, 43.7M Total)

Apr 27: 1.4M (500k weekdays, 45.6M Total)

May 4: 700k (300k weekdays, 46.6M Total)

Final Total: 48M (2.33x)

With two comedies opening next week, it's bound to have another 50%+ drop, and Infinity War will damage it even further. I have no clue what the disconnect between critics and audiences is on this one.

As someone who has actually seen the movie, I can totally see why audiences wouldn't be into it. Obviously, humor is subjective, but I feel like the raunchiness of the film went a bit too extreme, and that's not something everyone can get into.

Spoiler

As an example, there's a sequence where John Cena and Ike Barinholtz get their crotches grabbed by Gary Cole and Gina Gershon.

And at least for me, a lot of the jokes fell pretty flat, and my audience kinda felt the same. Some jokes really landed, while others didn't really get any big response. I get why critics would like it, especially when it comes to the film's heartfelt moments and the whole gender-swapped teen sex comedy concept, but for people looking to laugh, I can see some people not all that enthused by it.

Then there's the R rating alienating the teens who might be interested in it, Quiet Place breaking out and grabbing some teens along the way, and Infinity War basically sucking up all of the movie buzz a la TFA back in 2015, and I can see why Blockers didn't get a big audience.

IF the drops are correct I think WB were dumb to put Rampage so close to RPO. It could have hit 150mil. Still RPO will make a profit. Blockers drop is a little surprising but not hugely. I had a feeling that the critics liked it more than audiences. The film will do fine for it's budget but it won't be the break out everyone was screaming it would be.

It's been bombing hard at my theater; I'm not sure if it's even sold 15 tickets total today.

This was expected. It was always gonna bomb in wide release.

Why did Beirut get dumped, anyway?

They spent everything on Unsane ?

More seriously that is still one of the biggest opening ever for them:

Most bleecker street release do not reach 700 theater during their runs, even could be in talk for best picture kind of good like Captain Fantastic was.

Jeez my show is Isle of Dogs is dead. Literally 13 people here.

It suddenly dissappeared from my country's Fandango upcoming films list. I'm very upset.
