It's not that much of a stretch to say that it could go for $680-690m, because I actually see both Black Panther and Infinity War to keep going on theaters after August, basically because they are that popular and we have precedent for something like that before (BP, GotG, TA).

You really don't know how irritating it is for me though to see IW sprouting these amazing legs, yet knowing it's still a mere 10m or less too low to beat BP.

The movie was funnier than the first, left me satisfied, and is a shoe in for for best animated picture. That said, it fell just about short of the first overall, but simply because the first was a masterpiece. Much better sequel than Finding Dory.

Even 20 million could have been decent.  Book Club never looked like it was totally going to bomb.  It should stay well above 1m next weekend.  The weekdays might be level with Friday or close

I don't think it is possible but I would guess there is about a 5-10% chance TI2 increases from Saturday to Sunday due to Father's Day. The AMC megaplex near me has 10 shows at or before 1:00 PM and all of them are already packed. I expect many of them will sell out. TI2 will definitely remain above $50M and probably above $55M. There is not a more father and family friendly movie out there for dads of all ages. Critics love the film. Audiences are eating it up like a famished dog going after a bone.

 

I think a $100M+ second weekend against the dinosaurs next weekend is very, very likely. In fact, we could be looking at another $300M+ total for all films next weekend, depending on if there are any screens available for the holdovers.

So glad that finally TI2 will achieve the adjusted biggest OW ever for animations. Shrek 3 has owned the record for far too long.

 

I hope this bodes well for TS4 next year to be the first animation breaking 200M on opening wknd.
