It's needless to say, but even if this does hit $35m this weekend it is NO victory. Still a complete failure. The only reason it looks remotely "good" is because predictions plummeted to >25m the past few days.

agreed, honestly it was a huge mistake to spend more than 100M making this movie. Sure the effects might have a suffered a b it but really an unproven property like that shouldn't have that much thrown into it

On the same weekend last year, B:LA opened to $13.4m on Friday for a $35m OW. That looks to be what JC will make.

JC should probably have a small increase on Saturday (5-10%).With 12M Friday, I am expecting 33M weekend.

32m-35m wouldn't be bad strictly compared to expectations. To actualy save face, John Carter needs 450m+ worldwide, and best case scenario right now is around 350m. I feel like Disney could have easily produced this for half of its final budget, and they probably would have broken even, too. Oh well.

Walt Disney Pictures Plans Paladin

Walt Disney Pictures is developing a film called Paladin from screenwriter Max Borenstein, says a story at The Hollywood Reporter. Little is known about the specifics of the plot, but it's said to be a sci-fi adventure project separate from the still-untitled one announced in January.

That's the spirit Disney!
