Despite being ~200M less than JW1's OS total, that OS number is still behemoth-like for JW2. Coupled with the steady DOM run which in on its way for 410-413 type thing, an absolutely impressive performance for a sequel that didn't seem like it had any hype whatsoever. Never, ever doubt the Jurassic movies again at the box office, even if JW3 could drop again (it's still hitting 1B+ WW). Say what you will about Universal, but no one can deny that the OS appeal of their main franchises (Jurassic, Fast & Furious and Despicable Me - and Illumination in general, really) is their trump card without a doubt. Hell, Mamma Mia 2 and Skyscraper are pulling okay OS numbers in their own too. Comparatively, while a Disney seems extremely potent domestically, a lot of their movies don't have as much appeal OS (Solo, AWIT and now Christopher Robin as it seems are all OS letdowns/flops, while Incredibles 2 is still trailing Dory's disappointing OS total by 100M with only two major markets left to open and a big chance that it finishes on par with that number while coming nowhere near Coco's total either).

I know someone that hate watched that film and ended really liking it. I like hearing stories like that.

Releasing JW2 earlier in international markets just before the World Cup was a great move. For almost a month it was the only blockbuster on the market with four-quadrant appeal in certain territories. It also helps that it has a unique hook and doesn't risk the possibility of fatigue.

I think Equalizer 2 is more likely than not getting to 100M. It has to deal with both The Meg and Mile 22 going after the action audiences, which is already served by MI6 as well, but I think that it can survive just long enough in the doldrums of August. It's basically exactly on par with the 1st movie at the same point in time, so all it needs to do is to have as good or better holds from here on out and it'll get there, especially with late Summer weekdays and the Labor Day weekend boost.
