As much as i love the later MI-films, I do wish Ethan and Julia (Michelle Monaghan’s character) stayed together as husband and wife (a married couple). Why did they have to break up or so during the later films? 🙍🏻‍♀️😢

I loved their chemistry together, especially in the third film.

I think it would have been to much of a stretch to for him to be doing the crazy risky stuff he does and Julia is at home a ok with it.  Unless they did what the True Lies sequel we never got would have.

I have a BLASSTTT watching this. Have everything that makes you love MI. Action was  a bit down from Fallout or RN or GP. Not many crazy action set piece. But oh boyyy, the suspense and scripts are killing it. Brilliant and innovative use of villains. Plot a little confusing but Love the way it goes. Uncovering the story one by one and that makes me feel on the edge of my seat every time. A slow burn MI movies but on the other hand keeps you exhilarating without feeling dragged (Which also the reasons I love Fallout). Some really emotional moments :raining:and humor pretty funny. Tom Cruise Running :OMG:. Ready for my second viewing early next weekkkk.

Bottomline: This is the second best MI movies for me after Fallout. Tom Cruise was more handsome in Fallout while RN Rebecca Ferguson was the most beautiful.

The common criticism against was that the plots started blending across the latter instalments and each one only came to be remembered by their big action setpieces.

Looks like Cruise and Mcq took this complaint personally this time

I didn't love this at first viewing like I did Rogue Nation and Fallout. I'm curious to see how other fans of the franchise will react. I wouldn't be surprised if reception with fans is more divisive than it has been with critics.

What didn’t you like?

Some editing choices and tone shifts make the movie weird (as opposed to how slick and grounded the previous two were), and the ending is not satisfying as it doesn't resolve the plot - but at least they were honest with the "Part One" in the title.

Interesting, I've seen many critics say it has a satisfying ending that still sets up a part 2

They’re doing their job then.

But yes, particularly in the Craig era (and especially with NTTD) they constantly made the mistake of trying to make bond deep. He isn’t, he never will be, don’t even try because it’s not why the character endures. Casino Royale’s ‘the bitch is dead’ is practically an affirmation of that. And then they had to ruin it by carrying on the vesper story.

My god NTTD was a stupid ass movie

Who goes to a Bond film to see a family man shopping for diapers holding a toddler just to kill him at the end with some contrived nonsense?  Some of the shit thats been greenlit in Hollywood these past 5 years is just truly mind boggling.

Stay true MI

The ending is not as cliffhanger as Fast X or ATSV. But yeah not a fully complete ending either. Infinity War for me is the most complete ending for Part 1 movie.

IW I would say that was almost as abrupt or unsatisfying as ATSV tbh.

At least it shows that Thanos wins, reaches his purpose and Avengers lose while ATSV doesn’t give any definitive answers to its ending aspect. Kinda like ‘to be continued ending’.

So it's like the terminator being a drapery salesman and husband / father. ;)

NTTD is truer to the novels than most Brosnan and Moore films.

I read all of them.

If u don’t like something doesn’t mean it’s stupid.

Rewatched MI3 today as part of the prep and yeah, it still fucks. There seems to be a weird perception that this is somehow the weakest one in the series and while it's nowhere near the heights of the later films (there is a lot of CGI in this) it's probably got one of the stronger narratives of the series. Strong villain, great emotional hook, Ethan is actually a character, the team dynamic feels more well realized, the dialogue is really solid throughout, and Abrams' direction is gritty, intense, and kinetic in the best way possible. The bridge setpiece is still aces. I also think the fact the MacGuffin being kept so vague is one of the stronger uses of Abrams' "mystery box" stuff - it basically leaves the power of the thing up to the imagination of the viewer and doesn't bog down the film in exposition about it. Instead the film keeps it's focus on Hunt and the personal stakes which is a really smart decision.

Exactly.Barbie is going to be huge with that audience it seems.   movies for different  types of core  audiences. Old straight men better deliver and not sit at home waiting for Mission to be on P+. Of course it also has to share that audience with Oppenheimer.

I just saw the movie, and I had such a blast time! Tom Cruise did it again and make us believe firmly practical effect is the key to the thrill and adrenaline. The movie overall is a step-up from Fallout and JW4 and I certainly don't mind the long run time.

MI7 is one the rare blockbuster that I would call it "woke-free". Totally entertaining, thrilling and an exciting part 1 closure.  If old white man didn't show up, then they shut the fuck up and stop getting butthurt for Hollywood stop making movie that appeal to them.
