And that's not another way for saying there's no action. There's plenty of action. It's just none of it is compelling. I missed 5-7 minutes in the bathroom and didn't care. Hemsworth is a charismatic guy who, outside of Marvel, can't seem to pick a good project ever. you would not know Rush starring Chris is in the top 250 on imdb , never saw it though Edited April 21, 2016 by Ryan Reynolds typo
filmlover
Yeah, if this performs the way it's expected to at this point, Hemsworth is not getting eight figure salaries anymore. Better renew his contract with Marvel if that's what he wants.
Celedhring
Rush is great and he's great in it, comfortably the best film he's ever made. Cabin in the woods was good too, and Whedon used him well in the movie. But neither was hardly a BO runaway success and all the big profile projects he's attempted outside the MCU have been terrible and bombed terribly. He should re-up as Thor and stick to smaller and interesting films outside of that.
JennaJ
He's either not choosing well or not being offered great parts. In any case, his career trajectory outside of Marvel is pretty dire. But he's got good company - basically the only actors in the MCU who are having major success outside of it are ScarJo and Pratt.

Look at Ryan Rynolds: his career was basically in the toilet after a string of flops...and then Deadpool happened. filmlover
RDJ's career has been around longer than most of the other MCU heroes have been alive, so he's his own special entity. Edited April 21, 2016 by filmlover

Cochofles
For those who have seen it...are there are least some good, campy, scenery-chewing-offs between Theron's Ravenna and Blunt's Elsa Ice Queen? Do the Theron/Blunt scenes make the film at least somewhat entertaining in a drag-queens-getting-together-and-having-drinking-games-while-watching way? Are we witnessing the birth of a future camp favorite?

Depends on what you consider "major success". BO-wise, you're probably right, but for example Jeremy Renner has been in pretty good movies before and after becoming Hawkeye, and he has a recurring supporting role in the MI series. He's been nominated twice... His own attempt at anchoring a blockbuster failed (Bourne Legacy), but he still gets interesting parts; he's starring in the next Villeneuve film. Eh, didn't he have a few hits before he decided to take a big break(3-4 years?) from acting? And when he came back to acting he decided not to do blockbusters anymore, right? That's what I've read anyway. Either way, he's amazing in Penny Dreadful, that show is a blast. I do get your point though, eventually Hollywood does give up on you no matter how white or handsome you are. People talk about Deadpool like Ryan was just offered the part like that no matter how many flops he's had but the truth is that he fought really hard for literally a decade to get that film made and in the end that only got made because of fans reaction to a footage and even then the budget they gave him was very modest for this sort of film. Heck, they even cut the budget in about $7m just when the filming was about to start! Edited April 21, 2016 by Arlborn

He did but he never stood out in anything (not good news for someone who was touted to be The Biggest Star in the World) and didn't pick the best scripts, so that was probably enough to send him packing from Hollywood given that nobody cared even when he flopped. Hermia
Here is a list of who is pushed to become an A-list star from 2010 http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/gallery/hollywoods-list-redefined-44771/1-chris-pine It's funny the same list with some chances can work today, six years later. Well, they already seem to have sent Kitsch and Worthington away, so there's that. Even Pine's career seems to be going in reverse (from headlining a franchise to playing a superhero's love interest). It s like they didn't even try. The movie is also cheap as hell, no scope, cheap sets, vfx, costumes. I liked the first movie because it was at least visually arresting. I wouldn't recommend this, I agree with someone who said it s not dumb enough to be fun so it s just dull. But with this cast of beautiful, talented ladies, I couldn't resist. Costumes are cheap to you? I think that costumes and visual look were the best think about it, besides Theron and Blunt...The critics agree that it's beautiful visually and CGI effects are done well, what are you even talking about?!?
