Again, people forget that Disney wants to have connectivity between their movies and their parks. They will eventually have to make new material (they already are next year with Onward and Soul) but they want to somehow keep their animated films relevant and contemporary. Otherwise their parks are dated and worn out. Hence TS land with a new TS movie and SW Land with new SW films. Their animated films will only last so long before nobody cares unless they did something to generate new legions of fans. I mean, for example, what good is having the Cinderella or Sleeping Beauty castles as landmarks if, in 20 or 30 years (or sooner) nobody even knows or cares about those.

That is true but they have always tried to do a original movie but since they have got Disney+ they are not leaving any stone left unturned w.r.t success of remakes which is 90% of the time BO hit or blockbuster..

So are you saying it's OK to say you hate flops, but not OK to say you hate hits?

It's ok to hate whatever you want. I'm personally not gonna say something that isn't true to me not in general. Do what you like.

And if they get lucky, they might get another Pirates of the Caribbean

Controversial take: maybe Disney, multi billion dollar company Disney, can afford to lose some money

You literally listed only bombs. 3 of them.

And Pirates of the Caribbean is based on a theme park ride.

John Carter, Lone ranger and Tomorrowland are all based on something. They are as original as Captain Marvel

The whole discussion about Disney again, it will be like this for the rest of the year?

Week we discuss about Box Office & Hollywood (mostly), don't we?

Disney kinda owns both now, they are the big boys, discussion will start from them and end with them.

yes but they're original film franchises. Captain Marvel is the 21st film in its series. You think that's the same as the lone ranger?

Also, Tomorrowland IS an original film, i'm not sure what you think it is based on.

Disney makes movies because audience wants them.

Disney made some original movies, audience said, screw Disney.

Demand & supply guys, demand and supply..!!

Audience isn't out there pitching studios the movies it wants them to make. No one would have demanded a photorealistic remake of The Lion King if it didn't exist. Disney just makes shit that's the easiest to sell.

No one would demand it but they watched it, watched it in droves.

Easiest to sell because Audience consumes it, they might not want it as you say but they for sure like it. And disney knows that.

When Disney gets any sign of audience not wanting such movies, they'll stop, but for now, they know that's not the case.
