Anyone else think some stuff needs to move out of February? First weekend we've got Dad's Army and Goosebumps, that I can live with. But week 2 has Deadpool, Zoolander, Pride Prejudice and Zombies, Point Break and the Chipmunks all going wide. Surely something there has to move.

Point break will be DOA. WoM should have reached UK by then....

The only 2 competitors I see are Zoolander and Deadpool. I guess it just depends on who is in the mood for action and who for comedy.

The first two months of the year are looking rather quiet compared to some recent years. I don't think we'll see a big film until KFP3 and BvS in March. The latter should have a huge opening with Good Froday on OD and Easter Monday to follow. After that, it has 2 weeks of holidays. If it's good, it has £50m potential.

Deadline

After 13 days of release in the UK, Star Wars: The Force Awakens has grossed £83.5M ($123.8M). This is the biggest offshore territory for the film thus far where it has now capsized Titanic as the 4th highest-grossing movie in local industry history. It is also the fastest film to ever make it to £80M, beating the previous record held by Skyfall which took 23 days to get there. JJ Abrams’ continuation of the epic saga has now become Disney’s biggest title ever in the territory.

There's also Concussion as well, Deadpool's difficult to predict because I think if it's 18 rated, it might not do huge business although given how successful Kick Ass and Kingsman were, perhaps there is an appetite for 15 to 18 rated action films.

Batman v Superman will be big, Man of Steel did £11m OW so I think £14-15m is achievable.

Any wildcards for 2016, I think The BFG could do very well and I could see Suicide Squad opening big as well.

Well i live in the UK and i decided to finally go and see the film on the 1st Jan, and went to an evening performance, and was very surprised to see that apart from me there was only one other person watching SWTFA. Never have i been to see a film at a cinema, to see a film viewed by so few, and a film that is currently a massive hit.

Two conclusions, either nearly everyone who wanted to see the film in the UK, has already done so, or maybe word got out i was going to the cinema. :)

When it's pulling in £4m on New Years Eve, 2 weeks into its run (Most films don't even have an OD of that), it's definitely not done. Has a long way to go still.

There's too much comedy competition with each other, Dad's Army is just gonna stomp over everything. Deadpool will do OK. And there's the release of Dirty Grandpa and Ride Along 2 at the end of January. PPZ and Goosebumps are surefire bombs

Grimsby will kill off everything's legs. That 4 week period between end of Jan and end of Feb is just bonkers. 8 comedies competing with each other.

I'm unsure about Dad's Army, it'll do decently but the trailer doesn't inspire much confidence that it'll be good. There's also How to be Single which is a romcom which is released February 19th but has previews on Valentine's Day so even more comedy competition.
