DHD Friday (03.23) 68.25 M | THE HUNGER GAMES (Crow-serving on-going :))

Recommended Posts

Aren't these already estimates? Nikki and Guru say the same thing.

They're half estimates. Everybody (Variety, THR, Nikki, Guru, etc.) has the estimated numbers for daytime shows, and no one has them for the evenings, thus they all make their own extrapolations for evening shows, which explains the variance among all the different sources. We can't get reliable full day estimates till about 3-4 AM PST, but we tend to have a pretty good idea of how the Western shows will turn out once the Eastern numbers start to come in (10 PM EST)

FRIDAY 8:00 PM, 5TH UPDATE… EXCLUSIVE:Lionsgate’s The Hunger Games now has a hefty location average right around $12,000. Keep in mind that in many ways there are no ideal comps because the big-grossing films are all holiday or sequels or both. Whereas Hunger Games is a March release of a first in a franchise. Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part Two - $13,028, which made for a $91.1M opening day and $169.2M weekend; The Dark Knight- $12,219/$67.2M/$158.4M; Twilight Saga: New Moon – $14,504/$72.7M/$142.8M; Twilight Saga:Breaking Dawn Part One- $11,185/$71.6M/$138.1M.

So it's still rising. It'll finish higher than that 12000 figure I presume?

I'd assume so, I know a theatre in my area's playing the entire night completely sold out, so I'd assume that figure still rises a fair bit.

So as of 8PM PST, the figure is 12000. As of 4PM PST, the figure was 9900. Multiply both figures by 4137 and we get 49.64m and 40.96 million. So 8.7 million in the last 4 hours, with 1-2 hours to go on the East Coast (12AM/1AM showings), and 4-6 hours left on the West coast. So this should end around 15000, I presume, which put the Friday figure at 62.06 million (extrapolation)Then add in the 20m and we're at 82.1m for Friday

So what does this mean... Friday PTA (not incl midnight)= $12,000... x 4,000+ locations = $48m+? Including midnights = $68m+?Am I reading this right???? That would be incredible.

Yes, and with several hours to go.

Midnight Saturday won't count for Friday.
