Can I ask why you think that it will decline 15% in Thursday? Based on what happened in previous years it has chance to do better number than in wed, so i'm curious why do you predict so harsh drop?

It's going to lose screen to SW previews - as will every film -though Jumanji will also be losing its premium screens.

TROS's 40+ previews is the only reason why I went harsh. On a normal Thu would have gone for 20% drop but season will help temper the drop to 15%. -10% would be terrific but will take -15%.

edit: Also don't know how many premium screens it will loose and it's effect.

Also remember that Christmas seasons pre2015 and the entry of Star Wars behaved differently at this point. 2013 is not a good comp at all for the coming 4-5 days as the big screen and money eat up of ROTS will initially cause issues.

It will balance out by Christmas Day thankfully.

If this new Star Wars is actually a shit movie.

than jumanji domestic number is hard to predict

families will flock to this

It's hard to say to be honest. Jumanji is definitely charging next to nothing for theaters to hold the screens.

Disney puts way too much of a premium of their screens. Especially for movies without great reception.

Jumanji seem to be down 7% from Monday while F2 is up 5.8% from Monday!!!! Just MTC1.

Wow. I will even take a 20% drop for Jum on Wed. That would be strong enough for a 25 weekend even if it falls 20% on Thu. With -20% Wed and -15% Thu 26+ would be feasible.

edit:  -44%

Universal is getting at least 55% for Jumanjli - the minimum the major studios get for a wide release  Probably 60% since the last did about $400m.    This isn't the 7th week of it's run where they're giving discounts or a movie that opened with a 1k PTA.

All major studios do this, and Disney was the last to raise from the 55% rate back (that came in the mid 2000s) with IM3.   The high end take for Lucas Film / SW goes all the way back to Fox and that was when the %  ceiling wasn't 65% but 90% - and contractually keeping SW films on screens was for months not 4 weeks.
