IGN just doesn't know how to read. The Deadline article they quote say's this..While some in the industry are still trying to blame a lackluster box office on the pandemic, think again: Sony’s Spider-Man: No Way Home in its first day of pre-sales yesterday on Fandango saw its best day since 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. And this is the exact thing Erik Davis (frontman for Fandango) says in his Tweet. Biggest SINCE Endgame, but Endgame is still tops. Also just an FYI, first day = first 24 hours.

john2000
Assuming a worlwide opening of 500 million sans china+japan etc , i think that we will see a finish in the 1,3-1,5 billion range without china+japan etc , now if we add japan +china (IF it gets release) and 1 or 2 markets that have left. Then maybe we could add another 300-500 million ....to the ww total Edited December 5, 2021 by john2000

Well, as I said in the local thread, MTC 2 is overperforming and did beat Endgame but seems rather impressive that overall made that much more, I would expect more like 10%-15%. Perhaps is also overindexing in 3rd tier cities which I don't track. It's also jaw-dropping considering that both chains' online systems failed pretty much the entire day and in-booth was the only way to get tickets.
