I'm probably going to have Black Widow as a comp in the short-term and not track it that long. I feel like for superhero movies, they're in their own realm/world when it comes to presales and the way they operate, and I generally don't like using CBMs as comparisons to non-CBMs, outside of Venom 2 of course. If anybody has ideas on what comps I should use for Dominion (F9 and Venom 2 are definites no matter what), I'm all ears, because I'm a tad stumped at the moment.

On the high end, but plausible at this point in the sales cycle. TG2 is probably going to have the widest range of possible outcomes/forecasts, because it's a somewhat unique release, difficult to comp. even w/r/t recent Memorial Day openings

 

Here are the last couple of years of big Memorial Day releases and their Thur/4-Day weekend multiplier, plus a couple of potential relevant comps, with OW adjusted for the holiday weekend impact. An opening in the range of $16/$150 is within the realm of possibilities

@Porthos which movie had the highest over performance at sacremento. I know BW looked higher as did DS2. But not crazy high.

@katnisscinnaplex Did you look at Showcounts for this week especially Downtown Abbey. Preview release looks really tiny.

Pretty sure DS2 would be the biggest over-performance, but even that was within an acceptable range of MCU films.  NWH is kinda a special case as it exploded, but that might be the best case if I want to compare TG:M.

FWIW, BW/SC/LTBC almost all exactly predicted each other locally, with Eternals coming a bit under them.  So whatever BW ends up pointing at those other three CBMs will be in large agreement.

 

EDIT:::

 

Just did a check and as of last night NWH is comping to 14.26m.  Which is... Look, it's kinda crazy that even with that insane upfront demand, a NWH comp still spits out 14.25m for TG2. 

 

As for non-NWH films, FB3 would probably be the other biggest over-performer locally.  But ain't no sense to comping that until the final report.
