Is Mario WED preview a good comp for Guardians OD?

Nope. Plus wednesday was not previews. It was full day of BO. You cannot compare wednesday to friday and Mario is a different beast anyway.

Just post raw data and try to extrapolate BO based on number of tickets. Ultimately you will have comps when Marvels or even Flash tickets are on sale.

4.937x of Nope (31.59M)

Yay we have comps now!

What are you thinking for Fast X now? I know the comps are most likely going down since Dominion was more walk-up heavy but could it stay flat from Fast 9?

Nothing much to say at this point. I am thinking Ant previews would be a good target with better finish than Ant.

Honestly thought the range would be even lower for Guardians. Hopefully sales pick up

A couple of weeks ago Mario's high end was $125M 5 day. Now it's all the way to $200M. Let's hope GOTG can defy recent MCU trends and blows up later

Honestly, it's completely up in the air.  The 99 days of pre-sales (NINETY NINE!!!!!) just throws all modeling/comping out of whack.  How many people who might have picked up a ticket, say five or eight days before release, picked it up instead on a whim at a random day the last two months?  Means we can't really look at the curve of, say, F9 until it gets much closer to release.

Since JWD had its own insane pre-sale window (43 days!!!!!), that'll be a good comp soon enough.  But we need to wait for JWD's initial surge to be over.  By the time we get to T-35 or T-33 or so, we should have a decent idea for the range of Fast X.  Maybe even as soon as T-38, depending on how fast Fast X stabilizes against JWD.

Now subjectively speaking I have been relatively impressed with Fast X's sales, so I do expect an increase from F9.  How much of an increase, I don't know yet though.

Does the Fast and Furious series have the longest gap between pre sales start and release for any movie? They did something similar with F9 when that was supposed to come out in 2020. Even Star Wars only has like two months separate.

Not counting platform/one-day event releases, which can have ludicrously months long pre-sale windows this and F9 v1's window is the longest I have in recent memory. I recall @charlie Jatinder mentioned a film which had an even longer one when F9's initial run was being discussed back in 2020, but I don't recall what it was.

Longest for anything that'll get significant amount of money, sure (again not counting things like Fathom Event movies and the like).

That's correct. Is the marketing kinda muted?

I’m excited for it as a Universal Monsters fan, but the trailers all have pretty awkward edits and jokes for something that is arguably a pretty tough sell. Plus I think Dracula is like Robin Hood or King Arthur where people know who they are but there isn’t a diehard fan base. And again, I’m saying as a fan

Really good presales. Walkups will be hopefully even better than today where the Friday finished at 790521 from above PS. That would be huge. I dont think I have ever seen any movie have 500K walkups so far. Can this movie do it? Could take this to 60m saturday !!!. But I am hopeful that even if evening slow down more than usual I expect saturday to be higher than friday.
