Didn't realize it's premiering on Peacock as well.  That's how little I've heard of this movie.  Has there been any advertising?

I've seen some on various sports broadcasts.  Not too much though.

In fact, I have seen many "Firestarter" TV spots in many cable channels (not only sport channels); there were also some TV spots in late-night programming in national network .    Universal clearly isn't giving up "Firestarter", they just use this film to promote Peacock.

On the other hand, I still haven't seen any TV spot of A24's "Men" (which will open wide on next Friday).

Actually, based on what I have seen recently;  most streaming television series/movies actually have more TV spots than most of theatrical movies.     (For instance, I had seen too many TV spots of Apple TV+ series "Shining Girls".... almost as many as "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness")

Some people may think that TV marketing isn't useful, but streaming sites still heavily use TV spots to promote their movies and series.

I have only seen the trailer in front of movies. I haven’t seen any ads.

And I will say that if you all Don’t like Philadelphia’s numbers, then you definitely shouldn’t look at New England. Big fat nothing. I just think people don’t like pre-sales up here because I took a look at top gun and nothing has sold locally. But I have no doubt that the IMAX theater will be full on opening weekend

I'm still trying to figure out who the audience for a Firestarter remake was supposed to be. Not even close to one of the first things that comes to mind when thinking of Stephen King properties. Is there even much of a fondness for the Drew Barrymore version from the mid-80s?

It did have some things going for it: aiming for horror fans and teen girls maybe. Stephen King story, “creepy” kid movie, Zac Efron, new John Carpenter score, Friday the 13th release date.

But it looks bland. Still going to see it on Monday though lol.

@Porthos is that good?

I mean, it increased by 70 tickets (or 37% if one prefers) when Sacto was already hella over-performing.   So. Yes.  Or rather, its still "lulz worthy", hence my, well lulz at the silliness of TG:M locally.

It’s referenced in Stranger Things. I guarantee you that was most of the reasoning behind it being greenlit.
