kayumanggi
I just want this to be like UP or even RATATOUILLE. Those two survived very tough competition.
AniNate
I think if reviews are great it'll probably push its way past the competition, though really needs an advance screening somewhere.
ThomasNicole
I´m not worried about reviews, Pixar had a stellar sequence with Soul - Luca - Turning Red all with great to amazing reviews and audience reception. Yeah Lightyear was bad but it was a cash grab as well so whatever.  But they need to step up the marketing indeed, Pixar trailers always avoid the more cerebral aspects to play it safe but i think showing more depth would help selling this
jedijake
Pretty cool animation. But ANOTHER "your kind and my kind can't mix" story?

poweranimals
Is it true this is only getting a limited release?
AniNate
No, it is not.
JWR
Say what you want about the trailer, I think it did a good job of conveying what the movie is about and it'll get families interested in seeing it (especially by playing it before Mario). AniNate
I think watching it in HD really makes the novelty of the character models stick out, especially Ember's. The way she's animated is pretty cool. Â The characters' likability will go a long way towards making any less original story beats more palatable, and I'm pretty confident she'll have a lot of it at least. Why would a move to an open window signal death warrant !!! It all depends on how its received. Let the reviews out couple of weeks early and if that is great audience will be there.  If it's a love story, what's wrong with Valentine's Day 2024, and then getting to take advantage of an empty animation calendar (save KFP4) through tons of spring breaks?
Godzilla
I can see this flopping; trailer came out 2 days ago and just found about it now. It doesn't seem all that anticipated.
AniNate
They seem pretty set on their June date at this point. The film's done now, and whatever its fate is at the box office will probably be what it is whenever it's released. Â I get the sense they're pretty confident that they've made something legit here, and they likely don't want to push back Elio and Inside Out 2 and forgo a slot in this year's Oscar race just to maybe have less competition to deal with (which isn't even a guarantee if they do move it). They did stake out this date early and there probably is a pride factor at play that they don't want to be bullied out of their release dates.

kayumanggi
Pixar's Main Channel  10.22M views for the teaser (November 18, 2022) 06.02M views for trailer 1 (March 28, 2023)

Disney moving a Pixar film to a quieter month would be seen as them bowing out to pressure and no doubt they would be inane comments about how Disney has no faith in Pixar anymore.

Audience looks at trailer close to release and checks it out if they find it interesting. So this movie would live or die based on how it is rather than anything. What it will benefit by open market is less competition for eye balls and hopefully have a leggy run if the reviews/reception is there. That is extremely important as the brand needs to recover at this point.

If anything, people would commend Disney for trying to support one of their movies.
AniNate
The optics of what it would look like to rival studios are what matter more. Would give the impression they can just keep putting their movies near where Pixar movies are and force them out. That Ruby Gillman movie that DreamWorks just announced existed a few weeks ago should be the first one to blink if anyone.
