Only in local currency, Inside Out 2 is still fairly away from Endgame record in dollars (Endgame made USD 85M in Brazil, while IO2 didn’t even cross USD 70 yet); Endgame also is still the number one in Brazil considering admissions (almost 20 million). If you are going to make a list of the best performing movies in country you will always look at admission and the local currency because that what the country uses. USD is just a conversion for the global boxoffice but has no effect on the 'all time' tittle associated with a specific country. I mean look at the UK, the pound was once 2x the dollar, no clearminded person is going to make a list saying x movie is the number 1 in UK because it had a 60% currency advantage. And yeah even in countries own currency you have inflation and ticket price hikes so even those records will be call in to question (the same as we do when new DOM boxoffice records are set). I do agree that the money is the most important thing for the company, thats why we have global gross list in USD and compare all movies worldwide. I work with box office numbers for nearly 20 years. Used hundreds of local sources. No one listed records in USD, only a few had weekend numbers, Absolutely meaningless. People pay in local currencies, exchange rates always change and nowadays it happens more often because of political factors rather than economical. No need to repeat what have been said in this thread, but let us go: IO2 have become the highest grossing movie in Brazil, beating Endgame (Though it still have tt the 19M admissions of it). And the fact that is STILL doing 1M+ admissions going a MONTH after release consolidates as the most insane run from a movie in brazilian history. R$400M+ is locked, R$450M is possible if Deadpool do not eat away too many screens from it. DM4 have become the 2nd highest grossing movie this year, 2 weeks in only. This week will beat the second movie (R$80M) and going after the third (R$126M). A Quiet Place passed 1 million admissions and became the highest grossing from the trilogy and MaXXXine also became the best selling from the trilogy with the opening alone. Luccas e Gi bombed and had the worst opening from Luccas Neto, almost 5x lower than his previous movie (words cannot describe how idiotic that release date was). IO2 have beaten records left to beat. It is the first movie to reach R$400M ever and the highest movie on both fronts of all time, box office and admissions. The movie truly had an insane and one-of-a-kind run in Brazil and now we can only wonder how higher it can even go yet. DM4 though sneakly had an achievement this weekend besides beating R$100M, is the first weekend since release it had a better screen average than IO2. With Disney taking some screens of IO2 to give to Deadpool next weekend, Despicable Me 4 can even dream of being on a higher position than the Pixar movie next weekend in a twist of fate. To be clear I am not sure anymore on a possible R$90M opening anymore despite the Guardians of the Galaxy 3 comp pointing at one. The comps with IO2 and Barbie points out to an opening on the R$70M range, what would still be insane mind out, and it would be a top 5 opening of all time.
