Avatar beating all-time 4th weekend record in Romania,NewZealand,Poland,UAE,Brazil,Mexico,Germany,Czech republic,Hungray

2nd best 4th weekend in

North America(DOM),Australia,UK and Italy

Biggest HLW 4th weekend in

Thailand(3rd best overall) ,Turkey and India

The fact that it manages it in admissions too in some of those countries is insane - considering that in Germany according to insidekino the last time one of the first 16 weekend records was broken was in 2002 with Lord of the Rings 2. Before that it happened more frequently.

It's not just Europe where its performing great - its more like its doing well to incredibly well everywhere but in China and Japan.

4th weekend here was insane! +31.4% compared to the last weekend (or better! it's still estimated). A2 has a shot to become the new biggest overseas hit in Poland after 1989 (for now Avatar is #1, Titanic is 2nd).

what's the ATP in Poland for Avatar2 ?

It did well in China given the circumstances, the circumstances are just shitty.

Complete and utter apathy and rejection. Probably the only market so far that had such a response to Avatar 2.

What is important to remember about Japan is that they reject the majority of Hollywood sequels, even sequels to films that were extremely successfull in Japan. In recent years, the japanese market more and more embraces domestic (meaning japanese) films and less and less foreign ones.

That is also in good part because Disney is struggling so much. Before they were a big publisher with plenty of big hits, now they are a blip in the market.

Japan can still provide big performances even for foreign films, it's just extremely unpredictable but that has always been the case. Japan basically never cared much for Disney's animated films for decades until Frozen blew up so hard it got close to Spirited Away (probably ending its run 28b ish had Disney waited on the BDs, a mere 2b away from the record).

Yah this is why the Germany record is most impressive so far.
