Still really looking forward to seeing it. Not out till February here unfortunately. Which is also a sign it was designed as an awards play.

670k preview is better than 450k preview from Priscilla. With holidays coming and heathy WOM, I think 30m is pretty much on the table. A24 is giving a big award and commercials push. The entire cast is everywhere doing promotion.

Can't wait to watch this when Im back. Hopefully it's still in cinemas 20 days from now. Also the way this film is getting treated at awards reminds me of how Carrie Coon got snubbed for Durkins last film (possibly my favourite performance of 2020).

First half of the movie made me want to pump iron and Rock Bottom somebody. 2nd half was a bit depressing, considering I assumed it to be more of an inspirational action movie. One of those films worth watching in theaters.

Havent seen his debut but Durkin's probably on the journey to be the greatest Hollywood director from the 2010s. A little surprised how much in common this has with his last film. Such a great choice to not make this a weepy drama the whole way through but instead deny us a chance to cry until it is all over (and oh man, those final minutes are just gutwrenching).

This is getting some audience buzz for how effectively sad it is. I think it’s oscar chances are dead, but if the academy picks the RIGHT movies it would be in there for sure!

A24 did give the movie a big marketing push. Just I didn’t expect the academy members is where they choose to lay low for the marketing. Probably they are aware just how challenging to get three best picture slot in a year. The last studio that achieved this was Lionsgate in 89th Oscar.

It's quite strange how not even critics are batting for this one. Barely any recognition from any critics group this season. Also find it weird that audiences are so much more receptive to it than critics (mainly because its not your typical awards bait biopic).

As much as A24 has become synonymous with original, high-quality filmmaking, part of their brand is a certain tongue-in-cheek self awareness which makes their merchandising efforts seem "cooler" in a way.
