Who had Flash's 4th weekend below Asteroid City a month ago? (and that was limited in first weekend!)

Insidious 5’s $32.6m opening is excellent. One of the surprises of the summer.

I guess it's good for theatres and the business but the movie is hot garbage. It's a shame that out of all the great horror in the past couple years, this opens the biggest.

Anyway Past Lives movie of the year.

This is correct (for as far back as I've looked). Since the $100M+ openers almost always get a week of breathing room, it either takes a weaker period when you don't have any, plus no surprise hit that holds for a couple of weeks (think Crazy Rich Asians). This is the odd year where the two biggest releases in that period (Mermiad and ASTV) were back to back, and even the latter got topped in weekend 2. And that was only because of the late schedule change where ATSV had to find spot, and nothing else moved

Will note that Summer of 2013 did have 10 different titles at #1 over 12 weeks, with only Monster U and DM2 repeating over the 5/31 - 8/16 stretch.. And then also 16/19 into October (The Butler being the other back to back), before Gravity went on a 3 week run

I did actually find one a little better looking into it Feb 2009, Madea Goes to Jail's 2nd weekend at #1 - June The Hangover's opening weekend is 15 weekends of different #1s.

6.) Joy Ride (LG) 2,820 theaters, Fri $2.6M Sat $1.8M Sun $1.4M 3-day $5.85M/Wk 1

7.) No Hard Feelings (Sony) 2,686 (-522) theaters, Fri $1.6M (-27%) 3-day $5.1M (-35%), Total $40.3M /Wk 3

8.) Transformers: Rise of the Beasts (Par) 2,475 (-377) theaters, Fri $1.38M (-27%), Sat $2M Sun $1.55M 3-day $5M (-32%) Total $146.7M/Wk 5

9.) The Little Mermaid (Dis) 2,080 (-350) theaters, Fri $1.1M (-29%) 3-day $3.3M (-38%) Total $289.1M Wk 7

10.) Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken (Uni/DWA) 3,408 (+*) theaters, Fri $850K (-64%), Sat $1.1M Sun $850K 3-day $2.8M (-49%)/Total $11.6M/ Wk 2

That indicates that there was some very very strong saturdays, especially for Indy and sound of freedom.

Good Find! (Guess where I stopped lol). That whole year had a LOT of #1s - 46 in all (!!!) - as even Harry Potter didn't survive week 2, being toppled by G-Force. The only repeats were Paul Blart, Madea Goes to Jail, Hangover, Trasnformers: RotF, The Final Destination, Cloudy w/ Meatballs, and New Moon, none more than 2 in a row.

That is, until the end of that year, when a new streak began ...

One of the most disappointing runs of the Summer after that strong OW. I was expecting this to cruise past 30M. It might not get there now.

This one is gonna need a Haunted Mansion push to reach the 300M DOM total.
