And this film hasn't even started shooting yet. So that means by the time it shoots, she'll have been away from acting for 18+ months. And easily over a year from her last release.

Haven't seen a Kogonada film yet but I find all his films to be pretty interesting. Does feel like an interesting one for Margot Robbie to star in.

I'm VERY excited about this one. Great talent involved all around. Surprised by the release date too. And I guess I'm more excited for Margot career post Barbie.

It's nice that this is a film with commercial aspirations and not just another arthouse film. Is Sony the only studio that cares about serving female audiences today?

As Borys Kit put it "Elsewhere...Sony has dated Margot Robbie‘ first post-BARBIE theatrical release, A BIG BOLD BEAUTIFUL JOURNEY for May 9, 2025 (Mother's Day weekend). In the glow of the studio's hit IT ENDS WITH US, it's calling BBBJ "its next female event movie."

 

I was confused by the May 9 date, but the Mother's day date made a lot of sense. Maybe this isn't going for awards and is more commercial but will be genuinely good.

 

Packing this with Summer blockbusters had me a bit worried but the big release on that first week of May is Thunderbolts and I expect to be a lower Marvel opening. Like I don't see that movie doing $100m DOM opening weekend

 

Sony positioning this as their next Anyone But You or It Ends With Us is the right way to go. I just wonder if the movie will be too... out there for that crowd tho. Like I think people wanted the trashiness of those movies, whereas this will be slightly elevated and has some more fantastical elements. It is a very sweet story though so I think it has the potential to hit with that audience

Would be awesome if this is a big hit. Worried it’ll be another Fall Guy but I guess this does feel like a more receptive movie for women. It Ends With Us did well because it’s an adaptation of a popular book for women, while this is an original film so don’t expect the same kind of turn out.
