How? Oppies budget was only 100m and marketing was likely less than 150m. Thats a combined budget of 250m and it made almost 4x that?

And Maverick made 1.5b

There are other expenses associated with a film's release like distribution costs, participations etc. in Oppy's case, those are not covered by theatrical revenue alone. By your logic, that's means FLOP!

What is participations? If you dont mind me asking. 175m for participations is crazy, is that Nolans money?

Wakanda Forever did as well as it could given the countless hurdles it had to face, whether it's the death of its marquee star, or paying for the sins of Multiverse of Madness and Love and Thunder. Had Marvel been in better shape and still were able to employ Chadwick's services, that movie would've outgrossed the original with ease.

Participations (also know as backend points) are the profits the cast and other talent like directors/producers get from the theatrical revenue. Studios keep budgets low by giving cast backend points (aka participations). For a film like Oppy which has a huge cast,a lot of them A-listers $100M budget is astonishingly low and that's why the participations are so high.

Christopher Nolan made $85M for Oppy because of his backend points!

Absolutely no chance it would. Even with Chadwick. You were never going to recreate the perfect storm of the first. The first one made more than infinity war domestic. That’s bonkers. Peak MCU, ridiculous reviews, ridiculous WOM, last movie before IW. Would have never ever made more. Maybe 200-300M more but no chance it beats the orginal

The biggest chunk is Nolan but look at the actors who took a lot less upfront to keep the budget at $100m.  Why shouldn't they get their share on the back end of a movie that almost made $1B at the B.O.

BP 2 was always gonna make less than the first but maybe something like ~$550m dom and ~1.1b worldwide if Boseman had not passed away. For all its worth, the supporting cast of Wakanda still brought out a lot of people.

Thunderbolts is being severely underestimated 😂 even if it flops it should make 350-400M. Like come on now. The Marvels was an outlier.

It's still too soon to know whether The Marvels was an outlier. We need to wait and see how much Captain America 4 makes at the box office.

You not liking the movie is the key to success.

If you like Captain America ITO, Fantastic Four Round 3 & Pikachu's signature move then it's over.

If you don't like them, then they can hope for success.

True but at this moment in time at least.

I give most of phase 4 and phase 5  a 6.5 or less.

I did like Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. I give that a 7.5

I'm just hoping they don't mess up Dr Doom or the X-men.
