>Your Name. achieved its incredible twelfth non-consecutive week atop the box office in its thirteenth week in release, and dropped a minuscule 2% in the process. Its thirteenth weekend is the third biggest of all-time, only behind Frozen's and Spirited Away's thirteenth weekends.

After thirteen weeks in release the film has sold 14,588,086 admissions, becoming the seventh most-attended film of all-time. It's now less than 1 million admissions away from surpassing Howl's Moving Castle's 15.5 million admissions to become the sixth most attended film of all-time, and 1.7 million admissions away from breaking into the Top 5 by passing Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone's 16.2 million admissions. It's likely to beat both.

Makoto Shinkai's remarkable success isn't showing signs of slowing down yet, and rather than crawling to that ¥20 billion milestone, and becoming only the fifth film to ever reach that mark, it's going to comfortable exceed it. I'd project a total somewhere around ¥22 billion ($210 million) with over 16.5 million admissions at this time.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them opens on Wednesday, which is a national holiday and Ladies' Day, so expect a significant first day.

I know it is probably way too early, but it is coming up repeatedly in ww discussions for it:

any idea how much Doctor Strange might make, starting in January?

Cumberbatch fandom in Japan too?

Wow, what a run for 'Your Name'... :o:D

I think we've run out of Hyperbole for Your Name's run. Shame it won't be number 1 anymore, but I'm looking forward to when it cracks ¥20bn.

It is being a so funny (and incredible, of course) run to follow...

So 4.5-5.4m $ OD. So how much can it make by Sunday, assuming it is as backloaded as it was in the rest of the world? 15m? TFA made 13m. DH2 made 21.7m. I don't knw exactly on what they they were released though. But at least it confirms it will not have the fate of TH.

Usual Locations [Two-Thirds of Market] - Hourly Ticket Sales [First Days]

10AM > 11AM > 12PM > 1PM > 2PM > 3PM > 4PM > 5PM > 7PM > 10PM > FINAL

57,664 > x71,049 - Fantastic Beasts

Compared to:
74,565 > 116,519 > 144,266 > 177,687 > 206,086 > 240,279 > 271,568 > 281,438 > 308,702 > 317,438 > 317,709 - Yo-Kai Watch 2
52,996 > x60,631 > x75,890 > 117,855 > 124,236 > 147,342 > 187,892 > 197,398 > 226,441 > 286,005 > 293,246 - Star Wars: Episode VII
39,622 > x55,638 > x79,473 > x99,228 > 124,143 > 156,171 > 176,298 > 194,209 > 229,193 > 285,429 > 289,656 - Detective Conan 20
63,854 > x89,438 > 109,249 > 128,842 > 148,074 > 177,219 > 197,555 > 209,978 > 235,145 > 283,231 > 286,726 - One Piece Film Gold

Note, again, that Fantastic Beasts does a the major advantage by opening on a national holiday, and Ladies' Day (every Wed.), so it can't be compared directly to the other recent uber-openers. But regardless of that, a massive first day is still a massive first day.

285,959 (at 7PM)

Might actually catch on to Yo-Kai's massive OD considering evening shows should be stronger. It will easily beat SW7's OD.
