Mario, Slam Dunk and Conan's longevity is ridiculous

Mario is eternal. He welcomes you in the airport. At this point I think it will end up outliving every other Blockbuster this year because of Japan.

Mario will pass Conan for #2 this year. The weekday holds have been up two weeks in a row.

It's really benefting from summer weekdays, especially as the only kids-skewing film until the new Crayon Shin-chan next week,

Looking like it'll settle around 30%, but that's still not really...good, for japan.

Still excited to see it, but what a disappointment of a run.

Yeah, TWR has far lower OW due to 2 days frame at ¥960m as compared to HDYL's 3 days OW  ¥1.63bn but TWR is closing the gap fast. By end of 3rd weekend, TWR reached  ¥4.3bn but HDYL can "only" hit ¥4.7bn.

A very disappointing outcome after the wait of a decade, If not stabilized, HDYL will continue Miyazaki's downward trend in Japanese BO, probably his first movie to miss ¥10bn since Porco. A sharp contrast to current anime landscape now in Japan since every anime series are doing booming franchise record-breaking business'. Auteur anime filmmakers now like Shinkai and Mamoru Hosado also maintain their momentum, Hosado even has his career highest with Belle.

I guess second Oscar for Miyazaki is a pipe dream now.
