It looks like Zootopia is going to increase from its opening weekend, which is more than can be said for Cinderella. I think $50M is pretty likely then.

I would compare with Minions from last year instead seeing as its also an animation film with roughly the same WW gross (not quite the same critical reception though)

 

Minions started the first weekend with $4.3M, had a 33% drop the next weekend to $2.9M, and ended its run with $42.7M in Japan.

 

In comparison, Zootopia opened with slightly less at $4M, but looks to increase to over $5M this weekend (more than 25% increase)... if this is any indication, $50M should be reachable.

Oops , you're comparing with Cinderella because its in the same time frame (golden week)

 

I'm not sure which will be more accurate, comparing with Cinderella because its in the same time frame or comparing with minions because they're both animation.

 

But either way, Zootopia had something both films didn't... a second weekend increase.

Plus, the Cinderella film was obviously not marketed towards children... which could have hindered its gross during golden week (May 5 is children's day)

Is this accounting for Turkey? That's the actual last market, and based on similar animation grosses and the depreciation of the lira, it should make another $1-3 million there. It'd be quite something if Turkey ends up being the country that pushes it over.
