Shaldun Posted December 23, 2015 Share Posted December 23, 2015 (edited) First week of Star Wars The Force Awakens in France : 3 801 235 admissions with a huge 1 096 139 admissions on Monday/Tuesday (which is the record Monday/Tuesday in first week for any movie) For comparison, it's around 500 000 admissions more than Revenge of the Sith (big opening too) and by far the best first week for a foreign movie of all-time (excluding French movies). It's now on very good position to cross 10 millions admissions which would make him join Titanic, Avatar and The Lion King as the only American movies having done that in "recent" history (there are others like Ben-Hur or The Ten Commandments but that was another time). Though of course TLK did it in 1994 when the population stood at 59.33M. Today's equivalent of 10M 1994 admissions would be 11.13M admissions which it won't reach. It's even harsher if you use market growth : 124.4M admissions in 1994, 206M in 2015. That means a 10M movie (around 8% market share) back then is equivalent to a 16.5M movie today.
