Not really, the trailer didn't look so bad but not great either

As for the usual #1 admissions total, I had a look at it on this websiste: http://www.jpbox-office.com/charts_france.php?qpage=datefr&variable=2016

It is very fluctuating so it is a bit hard to give an avergae. In some years, the 1st movie will attract more than 10 million people; in some other years, it will attract 6 or 7 million. I noticed that there is always a big difference between the 1st and 2nd place. I will probably be hard for Zootopie to retain the fist place :(

Here are the admission figures for the 1st movie over the past 9 years:

2016          Zootopie                                            4 629 033

2015          Star Wars : Le Réveil de la Force       10 466 198
2014          Qu'est-ce qu'on a fait au Bon Dieu ?   12 361 430
2013          Frozen                                               5 151 855

2012          Skyfall                                                7 003 902
2011          Intouchables                                     19 490 688
2010          Harry Potter et [...] mort - partie 1       6 016 776
2009          Avatar                                              14 677 888
2008          Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis                   20 489 303 (so depressing, seriously...)

2007          Ratatouille                                          7 845 210

Which movie do you think can overtake Zootopia this year?

This is a good question. Maybe Civil War, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story or Moana...

Well, if Zootopie stays in the top 3 this year in my country, I will be more than happy ^^

Rogue One will retain at least half of TFA's audience. Oh and Finding Nemo was a huge hit in 2003, so maybe FD a shot at becoming a huuuuge hit. Btw, will the UEFA Euro 2016 affect the film business in the way a big soccer tournament usually does in Germany?

@cannastop I will be honest with you, I didn't even watch Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis.

But after watching a few extracts, my internal anti-Z movie sensor detected that this is the kind of French movie I really dislike: old fashioned, tacky francocentric humor about the regional culture of Northern France. I should probably watch this movie to really judge it, all the more so as the ratings are not so terrible (3 stars out of 5 on average on allocine.fr).

I can't help though, I just have a very bad feeling about it. I guess growing up with iconic, top of the list French movies, such as Jean de Florette, Manon of the Spring, Amélie or The Chorus make me very demanding about quality.

@Giesi @Cynosure I actually never thought about the UEFA Euro cup but it will certainly affect the film business. It will depend if our respective countries go far in the tournament. :P

5 day total : 1,212,314

By comparison :

Iron Man 3 : 1 633 980
Avengers 2 : 1 556 508
Avengers : 1 441 080
Captain America 3 : 1 212 314
Iron Man 2 : 1 092 774
Thor 2 : 1 053 213
Thor : 781 803
Iron Man : 774 306
Les Gardiens de la Galaxie : 732 378
Captain America 2 : 657 540
Ant-Man : 523 788 (6 days)
L'Incroyable Hulk : 418 456
Captain America : 334 805

It's having poor early legs in this market as well. Early admissions had it on par with AOU and now it's fallen almost 350k behind. In the end it might not even beat Deadpool (3.74M admissions) for 2016 n°1 superhero movie.

CW is flopping in France. It's looking at a 65-70% week on week drop. 3M is dead. It will finish barely above BvS and likely more than 1m admissions below Deadpool.

Crumbling in Europe?

Sorry for the (very) long wait of my reply... The region is called Nord-Pas-de-Calais.

It is a bit old news now, but according to Box Office Mojo, Zootopia grossed +$36M, this is virtually a $5M jump from the previous weekend. I was very surprised at first but on second thought, it makes a bit sense because the admission is 4,685,653.

Source: http://www.jpbox-office.com/fichfilm.php?id=15556&affich=france

It gives an average ticket price of    $36,449,253/4,685,653 = $7.77.

By the way, is the title of this thread not too old? ^^
