South Korea Box Office

Recommended Posts

Tom Cruise is going all out with promotion in South Korea. He's scheduled to visit 10 cities across the country to greet the fans which is pretty amazing to be honest, since most actors visiting Korea to promote their films just stay in Seoul.

Good opening for Assassination, it beats the opening day of The thieves a summer blockbuster film from the same director that went on to do 12.98 million admissions.

Good hold for Inside out. Screens and showtimes dropped from 705 & 3298 to 562 & 2504 a decrease of around 20% which corresponds to the daily drop.

Believe me, I was as dumbfounded as you... It opened on memorial day leading to huge numbers but still it's a crazy number

When you factor in it only made 2.8M in total,it must have one of the worse multipliers in history to only make 4x it's opening day gross

LOL!! 4x multi from OD? That must be one of the worst multipliers in any country, ever. I thought this was a pretty leggy market.

Btw IO is just down 4% from last week against a 500k opening, and a 420k thursday. That is an awesome hold. We are looking at a max decrease of about 15% on last weekend. So another +750K weekend is prety much locked just like a 3.2M afther 3 weeks :D

Sry but I lol at all who said that my 4M lock was crazy, I just knew it!!

Now lets wait and see if it gets throug next week with out to much damage :D

If next weekend is above 600k I ll do 5M and probably make a decent shot at 6M But it needs that 600K next weekend and thats a long shot.

This has been a great month for animated films all over the world. Minions and Inside Out in US, IO in SK and TMK in China. Two of these runs, IO in SK (and to some degree in US too) and TMK in China, were compeltely unexpected and really exceptional. Both were WoM fueled. The more exceptional and amazing run out of the two, even though both runs are truly amazing ones in a very rare manner, is TMK's in my opinion which just kept increasing and increasing over its weekend numbers and didn't fade even the influence of two other big time big(ger) monsters.
