Sam
The thing with MCU in S. Korea market is that these movies can’t tap into the older demographics that show up for local hits. So it seems like there’s a limit of how high it could go in terms of admissions. Dollars-wise, I hope Endgame will finally be the MCU movie to break $100M mark. It’s only fitting. But EG will be 7 days before release and IW was 10-11 days before release. Still SK is a market were MCU has been almost fully developed 10.5m Admission for AoU 11.5m for IW. So this might be the market where we have to be happy with a 5% increase. Whilst I think a lot of other markets have more room to grow. EDIT: If this does do 500k in it's first PS day (I do think it has a shot at this) that would be insane. Last record in China was ¥2.5mn. Or let it sink even. 11 days out was ¥25.5mn. You know rest. UserHN
The MCU wants to expand its reach right? Then they should do an Amadeus Cho movie and cast Kim Soohyun, Song Joongki, Park Bo Gum, and Gong Yoo. Find roles for all of them. Add in Song Kang Ho and Ryu Seung Ryong for supporting roles. And bam! You have a $100M+ MCU movie in SK.
Claudio
There’s a rumor that Most popular Kpop girlband in Korea , Twice is collaborating with Marvel. They’ll release an album where each one of them will play as a different Marvel-like character. Idk if that rumor is true but looking at the recent album teaser posters + 22th April release just 2 days before Endgame , many are speculating that. If it’s indeed true , then I think Endgame could get a boost. ( maybe )

Fish&chips
How high will Avengers: Endgame go in SK? To begin with, 10 million admissions is surely a foregone conclusion for Endgame so lets get that out of the way. It has basically the same slot with the same amount of competition that IW had just a year ago. Godzilla: King of the monsters is currently slated for a May release (date undetermined) and it can be expected that it will probably aim for mid to late may, similar to deadpool 2 in 2018 which opened on May 16. Besides that, there doesn't seem to be much else to compete, most distributors opting to give the Marvel behemoth a wide berth. Ticket price should be roughly the same with Captain Marvel in just the previous month averaging 8883 KRW ($7.8) compared to Infinity war which managed an average of 8912 KRW ($7.9) per ticket last year. The main difference seems to be circumstantial, with AIW coming off of AoU which, well received as it was, didn't really build the hype for AIW much. Endgame on the other hand has been building hype for a solid year on the back of IW so one could say it has a stronger platform to build upon. Although as many people have pointed out, there does seem to be a bit of a ceiling to MCU movies in Korea and I imagine to many casual observers who haven't been invested in the MCU franchise, a lot of the movie wouldn't make sense. On a personal level, my efforts to get my dad interested in the MCU have proved fruitless and I imagine on a societal level that's a lost generation demographically. If I had to guess, Endgame will more likely than not have the bigger opening weekend and probably repeat viewings would be slightly higher given that it is the final hurrah of the old avengers cast (it is right?). So maybe a total of something like 12.5M admissions which would give a USD gross of $97M which I think would be a decent increase from IW but not enough to take down Avatar.... which is quite amazing given that that movie came out in 2009 and it still holds the SK BO Foreign release crown in both admissions and gross. Truth be told, amassing 10 million admission doesn't seem quite the milestone it used to be before, and I suppose credit has to be given to marvel/disney for making it seem almost formulaic. 6
