Comparing Avengers with The Dark Knight Rises is like comparing apples and oranges. They're both fruits (as in superhero movies), but that's it.

The Dark Knight Rises is a more serious film, and whoever likes a more serious, dark movie, will chose it over The Avengers.

The Avengers is a movie made for entertainment, so whoever likes to go relax and have a few laughs, will chose The Avengers.

It boils down to Bruised ego's on the part of the Nolan fans when they were so certain TDKR was gonna beat TA because of Nolan's name and TDK, that when it didn't happen, the suicide 24 hotline blew up over it.. In the end, even Patrick Stewert thought it sucked apparently...

Technically, if The Dark Knight Rises would've been in 3D, it would have won easily.

Really? We're counting memes as direct quotes from the people in them now?

Hey guys! It turns out that all kangaroos think that Man of Steel was a bad film! Here's the proof!

TDKR also has a man who apparently spends an hour or so painting a building with gasoline so that he can light it up for no reason. It's up there with people in horror movies running up the stairs instead of out the front door.  It just lacks logic.

Why does Batman waste time constructing the Fiery Batsignal on the bridge?

"Batman has always been more than just a man, an icon of fear among Gotham underworld, a beacon of hope. The mere presence of his sign provided the hope to all Gothamites that their valiant knight has returned to their side. This is the very reason that inspires the massive number of cops waiting the next morning (Foley being an example of many unknown): The symbol of Batman gave them the spirit to stand up against a superior force. It can also be said that symbol was made years before in case of a threat like that of Bane ever arose and that batman only needed to position it & ignite it."
