RichWS
Finally re-watched it last night. There are okay individual aspects, but the whole thing is such a mess.

RichWS
I don't know, man. I was getting pretty antsy. Right around when Bruce comes back to Gotham, I was ready to get the climax underway.

Squaremaster316
You've got to give it to Nolan, with two such brilliantly written and directed characters in Hardy's Bane and Anne's Selina Kyle, he has officially risen in the ranks as one of the master film makers of the 21st century. Kyle's brilliant, subtle transitions from shy, awkward maid to stylishly alluring Catwoman to screaming hysterical woman in bar and all of the intricate nuances in between such as her gradual warming to Bruce Wayne (which is also an allegory for softening up to the rich as she lowers her veil of contempt for the "1%" and seeing them for something different underneath). Hardy's Bane is simply a beast, easily the best villain of 2012 and one of the most brutal, intimidating villains to ever come across the big screen, the Darth Vader of the 21st century. Yet another aspect of THE DARK KNIGHT RISES that makes it a superior quality piece of film-making is the remarkable layered character development of newly introduced characters, such as Joseph Gordon-Levitt; with every scene he's in, we get to see more and more into his characters emotions, beliefs, talents. We see his frustration of being stuck in a position where he can do some good, but is stuck with tools that clash with his beliefs, such as guns (You can see it in his subtle, nuanced facial expressions), and his detective skills to see beyond Bruce's playboy persona help paint a vivid picture of his eventual ascension to continue Batman's legacy. It's also a remarkable piece of brilliant storytelling at it seamlessly connects to previous the subtler, underlying symbolic theme from the first two films. BATMAN BEGINS talked of Bruce becoming a symbol for Gotham; next, THE DARK KNIGHT showed an example of those who were inspired by him being imperfect as successors; finally, THE DARK KNIGHT RISES shows someone who can take up that mantle thanks to his mentality, skills, and relationships (Gordon), therefore validating Bruce's reason for becoming THE DARK KNIGHT in the first place. Just pitch-perfect storytelling that takes the audience on an incredible journey and enriches their minds as it does.

Jessie
The movie just flat out SUCKED and just to add fuel to the fire as only I do best about the subject, TNT had The DARK KNIGHT on last night and what get's me about that movie is that it's so beloved by Nolan fans, supposed to be so uber REAL set in a REAL world environment and grounded, yet, there was so much about this movie that was implausible in the 1st 15 minutes, that I cannot believe you folks let 1/2 the shit in this movie go by without mentioning how far fetched it was?? Example: JOKER and his henchman are in the process of robbing a bank in the beginning, stirring up so much shit that it amazes me no one on the outside of the bank heard what was going on and even moreso when they smash a school bus into the side of the bank and inside it to load all the bags of $$$$$ on to it and not 1, NOT 1 Person even thought to hit the alarm sending for the Police to at least try and stop it??? Why??? Example #2: Harvey Dent is late for his trial with one of the Falconi's on the stand awaiting for him.. Dent enters the courtroom, has a few words with Maggie Gyllenhaal, flips his trademark coin and it lands on heads, then proceeds to grill this guy Falconi only to have the guy pull a fucking gun on him on the stand.. Dent then walks up and takes it away from him like it was taking candy from a kid being no big deal.. How the hell does a member of a mob make it into the courtroom through metal detectors with a gun and make it to the stand with no one knowing??? It's shit like this that all of you practically gave a "FREE PASS" cause it's Nolan and had this had been MARVEL doing this, you would'be blasted the movie cause of it.. Why???? You've got to give it to Nolan, with two such brilliantly written and directed characters in Hardy's Bane and Anne's Selina Kyle, he has officially risen in the ranks as one of the master film makers of the 21st century.
