4815162342
PAR has to so something to sell this better OS. Star Trek 09 made only 125m OS. STID is going to get fairly close to doubling that. Does it pale compared to standard blockbusters? Yeah. But for a Star Trek film it's freaking huge. The only disappointing aspect of STID's OS gross is that it hasn't made a big jump in several European countries like the UK, France, etc, as well as Australia. It has 5 markets left. If it matches ST09 it gets 11.3m from those markets. I think it can get at least 18m from them.

China was the most impressive gross and they don't even keep much of the profits there
A Marvel Fanboy
Disagree. Paramount is getting pure $14 millions from here. That is a hell of lot money.
4815162342
it also bombed in Latin America. STID compared to ST09 Bolivia- Increased five-fold Brazil- More than doubled and still going up a bit Colombia- More than doubled Ecuador- Almost quadrupled Mexico- Doubled Peru- Doubled STID has yet to be released in ST09 territories Argentina, Chile, Venezuela So, Muldoon, not only were you wrong, you were incredibly freaking wrong. STID has killed in Latin American compared to its predecessor, which is what matters.

4815162342
Still behind DOM ... Considering the DOM/OS ratio of ST09, the fact that STID will end up making a shade over 50% of its WW gross overseas is a BIG thing. So, you can count, that's good

Tower
Actually, a more thoughtful scifi like STID shouldn't be making this kind of money OS When it did : What other big budget sci-fi are you comparing this to that this did better than? "Thoughtful" sci-fi sounds like maybe the Matrix, but that blew this out of the water even though it was released 10 years earlier.

4815162342
Ouch, that's a decrease from ST09's OW in Spain. The posters in the Spain thread have been saying that Spanish box office is generally down, so that may have played a fairly big role. The posters in the Spain thread have been saying that Spanish box office is generally down, so that may have played a fairly big role. It plays definitely a big role. In the international section, BOM shows the cume of the top 50 every weekend. This year 10 million have been done just 5 weekends. In 2009, when Star Trek was released, in this point, 19 weekends had done it. The fact that it has dropped just 100k € can be even considered good news.
