Italy number can be huge. Koreans don't like cartoons but Japanese shows a fondness for American animation

look at MU incredible run there. $50M is very possible from these markets.

That's because Pixar has a great reputation in Japan. In that country, all Pixar films have had a great run, except for Brave. For imported animated films, only Pixar's are can make $40m there, the other flicks from other studios usually flops *except the ones from Disney.

$50m for DM is practically impossible.

50M from Japan alone doesn't seem possible, but if it can do something similar to Madagascar 3 then it can make 50M+ combined from those 3 markets.

Yeah, 'Tupek' misunderstood it. zackzack referred to 50M from all 3 markets, not only Japan. :P Anyway there's no need of 50M. Even 45M from those 3 markets would make the Madagascar3's 525M.

Despicable Me 2 added $6.1m from 5,000 in 45 to reach a formidable $467.5m, rising to $823.1m worldwide including North America’s $355.6m. There are eight territories still to open including Italy, Japan and South Korea (Sept 12) over the next few months.

The family smash ranks number two in Russia after $3.3m from 852 elevated the running total to $28.8m. It overtook The Croods to become the biggest animated release of the year-to-date and the third biggest behind Iron Man 3 and Fast & Furious 6.

Despicable Me 2 added $590,000 from 353 in the UK for $68.2m (£44.7m) after eight weekends and ranks as the third biggest animation of all time in the UK behind Toy Story 3 on £74m and Shrek 2 on £48.2m.

Both of those numbers are just insane. Toy Story 3 especially is just :o but Shrek 2 is nearly as impressive considering it was no 3D and in 2004.

Toy Story 3 is the 4th highest grosser ever in UK, just behind Skyfall, Avatar and Titanic. Harry Potter or LOTR, being both British symbols, were not able to reach TS3 number. Very impressive.

And Shrek 2 was the biggest movie in 2004, over Harry Potter (azkaban). I do not know how much would it adjust today in UK, but considering that today 1 Pound is equivalent to 1.57 $ and considering a similar inflation to US, Shrek 2 would have grossed today 100 million $ in UK (and without 3D).
