Plain Old Tele
It's funny how often an actor can hit it big on TV but it doesn't translate to the movies while a movie actor can fail (or be forgotten) in the movies and then resurrect their career on TV. You'd be hard-pressed to call Timothy Olyphant a success at movies, but he's been in two critically acclaimed and influential TV shows; Bryan Cranston was going nowhere in particular until MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE and now he's one of the kings of the small screen. Jon Hamm is iconic on TV but hasn't really made the jump to movies successfully, just like Van Der Beek and countless others before. And then you have the truly crazy career trajectories: Rob Lowe, movie superstar and member of the Brat Pack, who fell off a cliff and basically committed career suicide with a terrible Oscar song-n-dance and a variety of scandals, but then reinvented himself on TV, first dramatically, then comedically.
ecstasy
Bruce Willis did it though. He went to film and blew up. You bring up a good point though. Edited March 7, 2013 by ECSTASY

Noctis
Hayden Christensen - we all knew he blew Lucas. How else could have someone so horrible lead SW? Miranda Otto - what's she done since LoTR? Orlando Bloom - I understand he was in PoTC/LoTR, but this guy has done absolutely NOTHING noteworthy since. And it's simple...because he's so bland. Elijah Wood - again, very little. Samwise - ^
Noctis
Someone mentioned Aniston? In what universe? Sure, she mostly acts in bad rom-coms, but make no mistake, she's the queen of rom-com. Her appeal is undeniable among women. She has comedic talent. I really enjoyed her in HB. I just wish she would choose roles that are out of her comfort zone (like HB was). But yeah, she's a sweetheart and a bankable actress....she's a big success when it comes to money and appeal. Leatherface
Elijah Wood is apparently trying to reinvent himself as the creepy guy as he has that movie Maniac coming out and he also stars in a horror/thriller where his costar is porn star Sasha Grey and he spies on her. Good one regarding Olivia Wilde as the less curvy version of Jessica Alba. Both are terrible actors. Wilde is in that Burt Wonderstone movie, isn't she? That looks like a flop too. Noctis
Elijah Wood was the reason I could never eat something that had sauce on it while watching LoTR because whenever I'd see his horribly bitten nails, I'd get nauseous if there's food in my mouth. He seems like someone who'd hide under your porch.
