how? Sales agents/copyright-owners are almost always pre-paid before the film gets released.

 

No one will license a film without advance payment.

As in returns compared to gross are very very (very) low, not nada/zero though.

Dangal grossed $175 million in China but it barely gave $1 million to Indian studio. There were reports of some overflows being shared in the tune of  $15 million, but not sure how much true.

Well, using the same calculation as a2k, Black Panther global theatrical returns is around $625m.

Aquaman global theatrical returns will be 3/4 of the Black Panther, not bad, considering that more than half of Black Panther BO came from the domestic market ( biggest CBM all time domestic), i thought the difference would be bigger.

3/4 is not a big difference when you're comparing with the biggest CBM of all time domestic,  now compare it with Ant Man or Captain America-first avenger.

yes. as you can see as IW made $500k its last 3 weeks but managed to lose $9m off its total due to XR change.  They might adjust it later in time. It should be at $375m

So it will be reported at 300M USD in China but technically the studio wouldn't really collect that amount?

Exactly.

I don't know who or why they report the end total at current XR as opposed to weekly sums.

 

They convert currency quickly or buy currency in advance based on projections to lock in the rate

There is no way they'll let their share of OW(usually half the revenue) sit for 2 months while the currency can swing 10+%

On Friday, there are again numerous releases, so if it can manage to hold on to around 1% of the shows, it can get there.

Today Bumble Bee shall go for $13.25mn IMO. A weekend about $29-30mn, under 50% drop. Total by Sunday $110mn and $120mn by Thursday. $150mn is right there in the grab.

that's very good news. would be happy with 1990+ as that gets it to $290 even using the 'worse' exchange rate.
