I thought it was because they were going to show it in May. Then Disney backed out to set the date for July.
charlie Jatinder
So under 50% Mon for FG. Not great. TUE ps also don't suggest a growth. That's 2 cross on breakout checklist.

Gavin Feng
As of Aug.31, China box office this year reach ¥32.85 billion. Recent trend of film market make local industry believe that it's unlikely to hit ¥50 billion at the end of the year. Local bureau set a goal of ¥70 billion early this year. If they release films throughout year and not just festivals and special weeks, they can do 5-10B more I guess in general.

They are killing Alibaba and Tencent and other companies. Do they care if Disney makes money. Plus whatever money the box office does is peanuts compared to overall GDP. If they can screw up their own companies they wont care about hollywood at all. Just for fun they will keep blocking big hollywood blockbusters. Wasn't referring to Disney. The box office in general. Ofcourse box office is peanuts compared to GDP, but that's for every country. $10B industry is still BIG and employs millions of Chinese surely. What I said is China's decision is not driven only by logical impact to themselves. If they can impact their own companies they will have no issues impacting their BO which will have almost negligible impact looking at big picture. China's relationship with hollywood would be impacted by bigger issue in regards to their equation with US as a whole. I dont think we will see them giving lots of concessions at this point. So if they dont give releases for movies like Black Widow, Shang Chi and Eternals that wont be much of a surprise.

charlie Jatinder
This was funny "This summer vacation has been so dull that many people have forgotten that there is a summer vacation. In the past few years, the movies released during the summer vacation have always caused some social controversy and even negative voices. We were worried about this, but now I think about it. But it’s a different taste. Even if it’s scolded by the audience, it’s better than being forgotten.” A senior film distribution manager told a reporter from Securities Daily that on the whole, the epidemic repeated during the summer vacation and the tide of “film shortage” was superimposed. The entire film industry chain is still in a state of slow restoration. https://news.stcn.com/news/202109/t20210902_3644578.html
