lolwut? Prometheus is arguably the best looking film since Avatar. The visuals, CGI, sets, and cinematography are all top notch. Academy nominations in some of those areas are locks.

And Battle LA had god awful CGI...

Not quite the best looking since Avatar (and that film didn't have great cinematography), but definitely in the top ten.

You're right in that the aesthetic is immaculate, I think he means possibly scale. As in, other than one setpiece, there isn't a whole lot of special effects filled action scenes compared to say the final act of the Avengers or Avatar.

Chinese dont DIG sci-fi. Chinese love big spectacle effects. Sci-fi's tend to have that, that's why usually we love them, which is why bullshit like Battle LA did solid business. Prometheus lacks those spectacles. Also sci-fi horror never sold well. Check the first page, "ALL TIME HOLLYWOOD RELEASEes", there are a lot of sci-fi's there but you dont see a god damn horror at all.

Of course, 'cause not a few god damn horror had been released at all.

The trailer definitely looks cool for geeks like us, but for average audience, it's not what they want. The trailer was supposed to work in the way of creating suspense, but what they want is big in-your-face actions and destructions, not a spacship landing and a bunch of people running away from something. It's unfortunate that Battle LA, despite being a complete bullshit, had all these big spectacles in the trailers, so it did ok business.

Atleast it has some more breathing room now. Its not completely sandwiched.

Oh well. That's still pretty damn good. :)

Yeah, Avengers finishing around 92m makes me think TDKR will finish around 50-60m. Edited by Shpongle
