Nathanson didn't work on this, Sean. @Chewy has his personal number and can verify.

Jeff Nathanson not being the person who wrote this movies script, has nothing to do with what we're talking about here. No, I don't know him personally or have his personal number nor do I have his work number either. It's the Jerry Bruckheimer Films and Walt Disney Studio phone numbers that I have, as well as the Walt Disney Studios email address.

I know you won't. It's still going to be a bomb in my opinion. I don't even believe this will make over 100m domestic

Considering that the previous movie made over $1 billion dollars, I don't think that it will flop to badly if it does flop. And we won't know if it will flop until after it's first month in theaters.

I mean the first made a billion. Even if it was obvious this was gonna drop hard at least its existence can be justified

Studios are more scared of another John Carter & Battleship than a sequel to a 1B WW grosser.

This is also why we get Ted 2 and Neighbors 2. The risk making those is far smaller than making an original R comedy.

And The Huntsman. Jk, that was actually just dumb people making dumb decisions.

Also another thing to look at in 2010, the closest competition for Alice In Wonderland was How to Train Your Dragon. That was released 4 weeks after its release.

The closest competition is Dory, which just happens to be a Disney movie. It is also shocking how over the 4 day weekend The Jungle Book will still be doing 10M+ and Civil War will do 25M. Disney is literally cannibalizing itself at this point (The Jungle Book also hurt Disney's own Zootopia).

Yeah, but if it launches their merchandising they still make money.

I firmly believe the being the first big film in 3D after "Avatar" is the main reason why Alice did so well.I have never seen a film that made so much money that people then rapidly forgot.

BTW I wish people would stop saying that Burton 2010 Alice is a film of the Caroll novel. It is not. It's a sequel to the Carroll novel. A very messed Sequel IMHO. So Alice 2 is,from the reviews, a messed up sequel to a messed up sequel.

And,yeah, I hated the 2010 film as an insult to Lewis Caroll so I will be grinning if this thing bombs.
