Official Box Office Magazine's Top 25 Scores of all-time

Recommended Posts

Am shocked that Bond didn't make it, especially with the most recent film still in cinemas I'd have thought it would have ranked (would it have changed if all the votes for different Bond films were morphed into just one vote for Bond in general?)There's nothing here I overly object to (apart from Star Wars essentially getting multiple votes for the same music even if technically the scores are completely different, but that's an argument I'm never going to win :) )Happy that Back to the Future rated high as I was worried at one point it wasn't going to place at all.

Good list, although I'm not a big fan of John Williams' scores. And only now I realize I forgot to vote for The Lion King, shame on me. Anyway, great job, Walt, do you plan to make another list with the forum users?

Yes, I am sure that I will do another list in another category. My only regret is the title. This really has nothing to do with Box Office Magazine. The title should have said BoxOffice.com because the list is really only the opinion of the members of this site. But title aside, the voting turn out was great. Edited by Walt Disney

Other than your vote for Dr. No and my vote for Goldfinger, there were no other votes for any Bond movie. If we both voted for Dr. No, it would only have garnered 33 points and would not have made the top 25 list. The biggest surprise to me was Forrest Gump missing the list. That one shocked me. I was also surprised at how little support The Natural and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves received, since both are known for their Scores.I was surpised that The Terminator made the list, but Terminator 2 did not make the list. I was surprised that Vangelis made the list with Blade Runner, while his more famous Score for Chariots of Fire did not make the list.

Turns out I was the only guy to vote for TTSS, Irreversible, The Third Man, Days of Heaven, Benjamin Button, TGWTDT, 1492: Conquest of Paradise, Godfather II and Once Upon a Time in America. Some of these aren't surprising but others really are. Half of these soundtracks I can hardly imagine anyone not putting in their top list, unless they haven't seen the films. Also, me and baumer were the only ones to vote for Angel Heart. Heh.Other thing that surprised me was how low ROTK is. I think it's a way better, more memorable and powerful score than TTT and at least on par with FOTR.

So very disappointed that Conan the Barbarian didn't make it in. It's my #1 and I guess not many people are familiar with the music?

It just missed the list too. 3 more points and it would have been in a tie for the last 2 spots on the list. 4 more points and it would have made the list without the need for a tie breaker. It was very close.

My bad for not voting, Conan would have been my #1 as well. Great list all in all, awesome work Walt!
