Moviedweeb
http://www.deadline....s-this-is-40-4/ Abbreviated version from Deadline: 1. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (New Line/MGM/Warner Bros) Week 2 in 4,100 theaters. Still the big #1. Its international take is just shy of $189+M which makes for a worldwide cume of about $303M. 2. Jack Reacher (Skydance/Paramount) NEW in 3,352 theaters. Tom Cruise is currently sitting pretty in #2 with $6M today and should stay there all weekend with $18M. Some rival studios think he can eke out $20M this weekend. 3. Rise Of The Guardians (DreamWorks Animation/Paramount) Week 5 in 3,031 theaters. This should amass another $12M-$15M this weekend. 4. This Is 40 (Universal) NEW in 2,912 theaters. Adult pictures don’t open big this time of year but then they go on to enjoy huge multiples. The studio wasn’t expecting the so-so reviews but is expecting Judd Apatow fans to turn out over the weekend. Today could swing anywhere from $3M to $4.5M depending on how the R-rated dramedy fares on Friday Date Night, then end the weekend between $10.5M-$14M. TLK
$18-20 million will be excellent for Jack Reacher. A 5-6X multiplier means over $100 million domestic.

A 5-6X multiplier means over $100 million domestic.Excellent for Jack Reacher, huge for Tom Cruise's star power considering the developments of the last year and the limited marking; the man is still on top. ROTG is having an great comeback as well.
Jonwo
Looks like Reacher will be another hit for both Cruise and Paramount especially as the budget is $60m.
Moviedweeb
Awful for This is 40Considering the subject matter, I don't think it is awful and Nikki is right that the gross is in line with expectations.

Poseidon
That "Rise of the Guardians" number should end up as Nikkis worst prediction in History. How should that work? That's ridiculous.
Gopher
12-15m Rise of the Guardians? Is Nikki pulling these numbers out of her ass?
Moviedweeb
It may be high but if audiences are rejecting Monsters 3D, it has the potential to fill a significant family gap.

JackO
Ah, been barely paying any attention to weeklies but ROTG is running higher then last week. In fact, Thursday was highest weekday since it's first Tuesday. Still don't think that huge of an increase is possible. Hmmm, it did make 13M that 2nd weekend too.....
