Decent, Great and Horrible in that order for the new releases. It was a mad house at our big multiplex - talked to the attendent at the concession counter and she said they had sold more in $$ by 1200 today then all week combined. Everything should have decent bumps today I am thinking.

It's a comedy, a low brow one at that.

It's a renter.

That's not a judgement on it's quality. Comedies are renters. No great f/x, action scenes, cinematography etc, as a rule you shouldn't spend = money on a comedy.

People seem to, which baffles me cause you don't lose any entertainment value on DVD.

I agree with Craig here; I rarely pony up the money to watch a comedy or drama at the theater.  I'll spend my money on Action and Science Fiction films though, even if they are middle of the road.  Love watching those type films on the big screen.

I do understand why people like to watch a comedy with a big group of people though - there is a lot of "energy" with many people.

I don't understand the inanity of your viewpoint, but if you wanna limit your theater experience to action flicks, you are free to do so.

I thought the example rather clear.

The same money and effort isn't spent on a $40m budgeted comedy as is a $150m budgeted film.

A $5m budgeted horror film or a $40m budgeted comedy.

Same as the quality on a Ford Ranger pickup isn't the same as the Ford F150 and the price point at retail reflects that.

My $11 dollars is for any movie regardless and it's just not the same for any other form of retail pricing.

I do see a comedy or horror film on occasion but it's the exception. I rely on free passes to get my "quota" up on those type films. Just saw Evil Dead at a free screener. Maybe some people need a laugh track(ie crowd experience) to help them enjoy some of the films, I don't. Hence Bridesmaids is one of the most overrated comedies imo, but hey the crowd experience must be what some are appreciating with the movie.
